Hiring Unit: School of Physical and Occupational Therapy - Professors Aliki Thomas and Sara Ahmed
Position Summary:

The School of Physical and Occupational Therapy at McGill University invites applications for a one-year postdoctoral fellowship.  The successful candidate will join a national interdisciplinary research program examining rehabilitation as a critical component of Canada's health and social systems.

The postdoctoral fellow will contribute to a range of research activities, including:

  • supporting ethics applications and study implementation;

  • contributing to the design and administration of a national survey;

  • coordinating with national partners and stakeholder organizations across Canada;

  • assisting with planning and delivery of a national symposium;

  • conducting quantitative and qualitative data analyses;

  • preparing manuscripts, reports, knowledge mobilization products, and conference presentations;

  • contributing to grant development (e.g. preparation of large-scale national funding applications).

  • perform administrative and other tasks, as assigned (e.g., monitor budgets)

Funding is available through CIHR funding. The appointment is expected to begin immediately. As part of the fellowship, the successful candidate will be expected to apply for external postdoctoral salary awards and fellowship funding during the Fall 2026 competition cycle to support continuation of the fellowship. Interested candidates should submit:

  • a letter of interest describing their research interests and relevant experience;

  • a current curriculum vitae;

  • the names and contact information of two academic referees.

Qualifications:

Applicants should hold a PhD in rehabilitation sciences, health services research, implementation science, occupational therapy, physical therapy, nursing, or another relevant health or social science discipline. Experience in health services research, knowledge translation, health policy, survey methods, mixed methods research, or stakeholder engagement would be considered an asset.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • an excellent record of academic achievement;

  • a strong publication record relative to career stage;

  • excellent written and oral communication skills;

  • experience working collaboratively within interdisciplinary research teams;

  • strong organizational and project management skills; and

  • the ability to work independently while mentoring graduate students and research trainees.

  • proficiency in spoken and written French is an asset.

Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level # 3 on a scale of 0-4.
