Job Description

    Assists in planning and implementing the pursuit of strategic opportunities by cultivating partnerships or other commercial relationships or by identifying new markets for the entity's products or services.

    Key Result Areas

    • Develop and execute business development plans to grow new business and retain profitable portfolios.

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, customers, and key stakeholders to maximize opportunities.

    • Manage portfolio profitability, ensuring compliance with underwriting standards, claims ratios, and premium collection targets.

    • Negotiate terms and pricing for quotations, renewals, and complex accounts within approved guidelines

    • Prepare accurate sales forecasts and track performance against agreed KPIs.

    • Collaborate with internal teams to enhance customer experience and service delivery.

    • Leverage market trends and insights to recommend fit-for-purpose insurance solutions.

    • Support sales initiatives through broker meetings, presentations, and targeted campaigns

    Qualifications & Experience Required

    • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, or a related field.

    • Certificate Of Proficiency (General Insurance)-Required

    • Proven track record of at least 5-10 years in business development within the life insurance industry or financial services sector.

    • Associate Insurance Institute of South Africa (AIISA) – Required

    • Relevant certifications in sales, business development, or insurance would be advantageous.

    • Knowledge in general insurance

    • Sales background

    • Ability to articulate the value proposition of life insurance products.

    • Flexibility to adapt to changing market dynamics and customer needs.

    • Proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.
