Role summary
You will oversee a portfolio of large-scale technology programs, ensuring strategic alignment, operational excellence, and financial performance across multiple client engagements. This role provides leadership to Program and Project Managers while driving governance, resource optimization, and continuous improvement to maximize business value and customer success.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end governance and delivery oversight of a portfolio of complex IT and infrastructure programs.

  • Prioritize projects based on business value, resource availability, strategic objectives, and risk.

  • Establish and maintain portfolio governance standards, delivery methodologies, and reporting frameworks.

  • Oversee portfolio resource planning, capacity management, and workload balancing.

  • Build trusted relationships with executive client stakeholders, delivery leaders, and cross-functional teams.

  • Facilitate portfolio reviews, executive steering committees, financial reviews, and risk management sessions.

  • Monitor portfolio health, ensuring programs remain aligned with scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives.

  • Manage portfolio financial performance, including forecasting, revenue, gross margin, utilization, backlog, and profitability.

  • Identify, assess, and proactively mitigate portfolio-level risks, issues, and dependencies.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop Program Managers and Project Managers, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Develop executive dashboards and portfolio reporting that provide actionable business insights.

  • Drive process improvements that increase delivery efficiency, stakeholder satisfaction, and operational maturity.

Requirements – Must-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.

  • 10+ years of experience in program and project management.

  • 5+ years leading large, cross-functional IT or infrastructure programs in a Professional Services and/or Managed Services environment.

  • Proven experience managing complex portfolios of enterprise technology projects.

  • Strong leadership experience managing and developing Program Managers and Project Managers.

  • Expertise in portfolio governance, strategic planning, risk management, and organizational change.

  • Strong experience with budgeting, forecasting, revenue management, financial reporting, and profitability analysis for multimillion-dollar portfolios.

  • Experience with IT infrastructure programs and enterprise technology delivery.

  • Proficiency with project and portfolio management tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, and Power BI.

  • Excellent executive communication, stakeholder management, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and strategic thinking capabilities.

  • High emotional intelligence with the ability to influence across matrixed organizations.

Nice-to-haves (optional)

  • Master's degree or MBA.

  • PMP, PgMP, Agile, SAFe, or ITIL certifications.

  • Experience leading enterprise digital transformation or infrastructure modernization portfolios.

  • Experience establishing PMO governance frameworks and portfolio management best practices.

  • Familiarity with Lean Portfolio Management or enterprise Agile methodologies.

Skills Required
