We’re a close-knit team based in Sydney CBD, with a focus on implementing derivative-based overlays and investment strategies for superannuation funds, ETF providers, managed funds and managed accounts. As well as providing consulting and financial risk management to insurers, and supporting the design of retirement income products and strategies.
Your Role / What You’ll Do
As an Intern, you will support our team in analysing investment ideas, process automation, day-to-day operations, data cleansing, validation, and analysis. You will work closely with our portfolio managers and consultants to gain hands-on experience and contribute to the success of our team.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Conduct and support analysis on investment ideas, both from a derivatives hedging overlays and asset allocation perspective
- Assist with day-to-day portfolio management operational tasks to ensure smooth team functioning.
- Perform data cleansing activities on in-house data, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Assist in the development and maintenance of databases used by the portfolio management team
- Assist in the automation of processes used by the portfolio management and actuarial team
- Assist in analysing data and produce modelling outcomes using Milliman’s in-house tools and resources.
- Complete ad-hoc projects as assigned by the portfolio management and actuarial team
Your Qualifications
Requirement for Ideal Candidates:
- Currently enrolled and in the final year of a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in actuarial, financial mathematics, statistics, engineering, or a related field
- Proficiency in Excel VBA. Knowledge of SQL, R, Python and other programming languages is a plus
- Self-motivated individual with a sense of intellectual curiosity and results-oriented work ethic
- Ability to analyse and apply creative problem solving both independently and within a team
- Excellent project management skills, including communication and time management skills
- Sharp critical thinking skills, sound judgment and decision making ability, and both the ability and willingness to clearly articulate your ideas
- An inherent sense of the value of collaboration
