The Role

DEMO S.A. is a Greek industrial and commercial organization, specializing in the production, sales and distribution of injectable drugs. We are bringing the future into the present, with a 356 million Euro investment plan, which is already underway. DEMO is stepping up to become a European and global leader in the manufacture of injectables by 2027; by constructing four new production units in Tripoli, by building a small-scale manufacturing unit for the development and production of monoclonal antibodies, by investing heavily in R&D and by expanding its existing manufacturing plants in Kryoneri.

We are looking for a talented Portfolio Development Director to shape and drive DEMO’s product portfolio strategy.

The main purpose of this role is to lead the strategic planning, development, and optimization of our pipeline and commercial products, ensuring every decision aligns with the company’s vision and growth objectives. This position is pivotal in identifying and prioritizing new product opportunities, guiding cross-functional teams from concept through launch, and fostering data-driven decision-making across R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Commercial, Medical Affairs, Manufacturing, and Procurement.

The Portfolio Development Director oversees managers and officers within the directorate, champions continuous improvement, and ensures the seamless transition of products through every stage of the lifecycle.

He/She and leads the strategic planning, development, and optimization of the company’s product portfolio encompassing both R&D pipeline assets and commercial products.

He/She work closely with various stakeholders across R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Commercial, Medical Affairs, Manufacturing, Procurement to enable data-driven decision-making and ensure alignment with corporate strategy.

The PD Director manages a team of Managers and Officers.


In particular:

Portfolio Development:

Identification and assessment of potential new product opportunities for in-house development:

  • Search, evaluation & selection of potential new finished product targets for portfolio development, according to the company's strategy (mainly focused on sterile generic and value-added medicines)
  • Responsible for the overall planning and prioritization of new product opportunities in order to ensure that the targeted number of development projects is delivered to the R&D teams on time
  • nitial budgeting and forecasting
  • Evaluation of the IP landscape

Portfolio Management

  • Participates in the product lifecycle reviews with the aim to implement optimizations in commercialized products

Material sourcing

For those portfolio development projects that are approved by top management, the PD Director leads the process for the selection of the appropriate vendors in close collaboration with the R&D and Regulatory Affairs teams. In particular:

  • Leads the sourcing of new APIs and, where applicable, new excipients and packaging materials required for the development of the selected products
  • Leads the contract negotiations with the abovementioned vendors/developers
  • Manages the relationship with the selected material vendors to achieve support and alliance with the project timelines

Project Management:

  • Monitoring and support of the development process from project approval until commercial launch
  • Monitoring and support of the periodic product lifecycle management process for the existing portfolio

General tasks:

  • He/she serves as the PD Subject Matter Expert at the highest level within the company and provides advice to other company teams.
  • He/she prepares reports to the Group Director of Corporate Development and the top management
  • He/she is responsible for preparing the annual budget of the PD Directorate
  • He/she is responsible for the development of the PD Directorate members and their performance assessment (performance appraisal) as their direct or indirect report.
  • He/she identifies the Directorate's training needs on PD matters and collaborates with HR for the implementation of the required training program
  • He/she designs and evaluates periodically the Directorate's main operating procedures and implements improvements in order to increase the teams' productivity

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or Chemistry or other life sciences
  • 8+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with significant experience in portfolio management, program management, corporate strategy or R&D operations
  • Strong understanding of the development process for generics and value-added medicines
  • Good understanding of the commercialization process
  • Good understanding of the Intellectual Property (IP) risks related with pharmaceutical products
  • Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with proven ability to work under pressure and delivery against deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiar with SAP, IQVIA Midas software.
