Port Director

Director, Destination Operations, Grand Turk 

JOB DESCRIPTION: 

The Director, Destination Operations – GTCC is responsible for overseeing the strategic, leadership, and operational management of Carnival Corporation’s Global Destination portfolio in Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos Islands.  

This role involves managing multiple layers of teams across general management, operations, and administrative functions, ensuring smooth and efficient daily operations. The Director of Destination Operations is accountable for performance management, coaching, mentoring, and the professional development of staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and high performance. Additionally, this position plays a key role in developing and implementing operational strategies, policies, and procedures that align with organizational goals, optimize resources, and enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Security 

• Ensure the health and safety of guests. 

Guest Experience & Operational Excellence 

• Ensure world-class guest experiences are executed according to standards and requirements, collaborating closely with external partners to refine and enhance offerings. 

• Accountable for guest satisfaction, overseeing quality assurance, delivery, measurement, and continuous improvement. 

• Serve as the primary point of contact with external teams (e.g., ship personnel) to ensure seamless transitions between services and resolve any issues promptly. 

• Direct oversight of teams responsible for guest services, entertainment, transportation, water activities, security, housekeeping, landscaping, inventory, maintenance, utilities, and health/environmental/safety standards. 

• Manage third-party food, beverage, and retail partners to ensure operational and guest experience standards are met.  

Strategic Planning & Financial Management  

• Implement and maintain the annual operating plan to optimize guest satisfaction, expense management, and operational efficiency. 

• Review budget reports and drive initiatives to improve operational efficiency. 

• Manage labor and operating expenses through planning, budgeting, purchasing, policymaking, and inventory control. 

• Focus on cost control and revenue generation solutions to maximize profitability.                                                                              

Compliance

• Ensure adherence to health, safety, environmental, and security procedures, including oversight of overarching HESS plans and communication protocols. 

• Ensure compliance with all relevant legal requirements, permits, licenses, labor laws, and other regulations in the operational jurisdiction. 

• Work with local partners, such as utilities, police, customs, medical services, and waste management, to meet operational and safety requirements.       

 Leadership, Team Development & Stakeholder Engagement  

• Develop, mentor, and hold accountable for the leadership team, monitoring performance and supporting professional growth. 

• Maintain a visible and active presence within the organization and in relevant business, social, and governmental communities. 

• Collaborate with shared-service teams (HR, engineering, finance) to support overall organizational performance and strategy.                                                                               

QUALIFICATIONS: HIRING REQUIREMENTS: 

• A Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a relevant advanced degree is preferred.     

• Subject matter expert in security with a minimum of 10 years' experience in a leadership position. 

• A minimum of 15 years of progressive leadership experience.  

• Accounting/Finance background. 

• Previous experience in international environments leading theme-park operations or multi-national hospitality properties (large resorts, hotels, cruise destinations) is required.  

• Construction Project Manager experience. 

• Experience in Crisis Management in a leadership position for large scale national and international events.  

• Port Facility Officer (PFSO) 

• Process improvement and industrial engineering principles for operational efficiencies are strongly preferred.  

• Experience working in the English-speaking Caribbean is strongly preferred.                                                                            

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS: 

• Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with employees and guests. 

• Ability to clearly communicate in English in written in verbal form in to write comprehensive reports and conduct briefings to senior leadership.  This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, managers, and co-workers. 

SALARY RANGE:  

• Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
