We are seeking a highly skilled Pore Pressure Engineer to oversee real-time pore pressure operations at the rig site. The successful candidate will possess extensive operational drilling experience, with proven capability in developing pre-drill Pore Pressure & Fracture Gradient (PPFG) profiles, executing real-time pressure evaluations, and providing decisive technical guidance during critical operational phases.
Responsibilities include:
• Pre-Drill Predictive Modelling: Construct, calibrate, and validate pre-drill pore pressure, overburden pressure, and fracture gradient profiles using regional offset well data, seismic velocities, and geological models.
• Real-Time Pore Pressure Evaluation: Monitor and analyse active drilling operations in real time using conventional quantitative and qualitative methods (including sonic/resistivity/density trendlines, gas analysis, and cavings morphology).
• Operational Risk Mitigation: Continually evaluate wellbore stability, identify early indicators of abnormal formation pressure, and advise rig leadership on safe mud weight operational windows.
• Reporting & Technical Communication: Prepare comprehensive Daily PPFG Monitoring Reports and deliver clear, data-driven post-section/post-well evaluations.
• Client Collaboration & Decision-Making: Represent the geomechanics team in daily client and operational management meetings, actively contributing technical expertise to guide critical drilling decisions (e.g., casing seat selection, mud weight adjustments, and well control scenarios).
REQUIREMENTS
• Experience: Minimum 5+ years of direct operational experience within active drilling operations, with a strong background in wellsite geomechanics and pore pressure prediction.
• Technical Proficiency: Extensive practical experience with all conventional pore pressure evaluation techniques (Eaton, Bowers, Holbrook, etc.) and real-time monitoring workflows.
• Drilling Operations Analysis: Demonstrated ability to analyze dynamic drilling indicators (ROP, torque and drag, ECD, gas peaks, cuttings/cavings) to separate pressure trends from mechanical phenomena.
• Software: Hands-on experience with industry-standard real-time PPFG platforms
• Leadership & Communication: Excellent verbal and written technical communication skills, with a track record of driving decision-making in high-pressure operational environments.
Skills Required
- Degree in Geology, Geophysics, Earth Science, or Petroleum Engineering.
- Experience in geomechanics or operations geology.
- Strong understanding of wellbore behaviour and overpressure mechanisms.
- Proficiency with pore pressure modelling software.
