The Polysomnograph Technologist conducts comprehensive sleep studies to assist in the diagnosis and treatment for sleep disorders. This position assesses the clinical history of the patient, reviews the medical orders, and develops a plan for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, according to policy and procedure. The Technologist educates patients about procedures and possible testing interventions. This position also analyzes extensive data, and reports information to the interpreting physician for diagnosis and/or treatment recommendations.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
- Machine Maintenance Maintains cleanliness of patient room and equipment, and prepares and calibrates equipment needed for testing.
- Patient Education Educates patients and their families regarding the testing and analysis procedures to be performed on the patient.
- Polysomnographic Testing and Analysis Conducts comprehensive polysomnographic testing and analysis of sleep studies used to diagnose sleep disorders.
- Sleep Analysis Analyses sleep testing data during and after testing to determine intervention needs and produce progress reports.
- Patient Discharge Concludes testing procedures with patients including providing discharge instructions.
- Patient Review Reviews patient clinical history, sleep history, and physicians' orders.
- Community Outreach Attends community outreach programs or events, as required.
Qualifications
- Required High School Diploma/GED
- Required Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
- Required Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Sleep Disorder Specialist (SDS)
- 1 year Respiratory Care or related field (such as EEG) Preferred
