The Role
As a Policy Research & Operations Analyst, you'll be a foundational member of our Policy and Government Affairs team. You'll conduct in-depth research and analysis on legislative proposals to assess their business impact. You'll also contribute to our strategic direction through active involvement in research, monitoring industry and political landscapes, and gathering essential intelligence to inform our team's approach. This involves translating complex information into actionable insights that shape our engagement and policy positioning. Additionally, you will help lead team operations, including budget management, internal reporting, and tracking of goals and success metrics. A key responsibility will be managing oversight of external consultant contracts and their deliverables, including follow-ups as assigned. You'll ensure seamless logistics and prepare materials for the Director of the program and our executives, specifically for DC fly-ins, engagements with elected officials, and other key events. This role reports to the Director, Policy and Government Affairs.
What You'll Do
- Policy Research & Analysis: Conduct comprehensive research and analysis on public policy proposals to assess their potential impact. Synthesize complex information into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership.
- Information Management & Intelligence: Manage on-demand requests for policy-related information from SoFi executives across the organization. Provide ongoing intelligence on the policy landscape and tracking.
- Executive Briefing & Support: Develop clear, concise, and impactful briefing materials for senior executives in preparation for engagements with policymakers and other key stakeholders.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a central point of contact for internal inquiries, collaborating effectively with legal, compliance, and various business units to ensure timely responses and insight.
- Operations: Take ownership of all Policy and Government Affairs back-office operations, including budget management, consultant onboarding, and oversight of external consultant contracts and their deliverables. Support the timely filings of lobbying disclosures for SoFi and work to identify and implement efficiencies to streamline team workflows.
- Performance Tracking & Reporting: Lead the tracking of programmatic success metrics and performance objectives for the Policy and Government Affairs program. You'll support the Director in developing key metrics and ensure clear visibility into our impact and progress for the business.
- 4+ years of progressive experience in a research, analysis, operations, or project management role, ideally within a public policy, government affairs, regulatory affairs, or legal program.
- Demonstrated expertise in conducting thorough research, analyzing complex information, and synthesizing findings into clear, concise, and actionable insights.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills with a proven track record of managing budgets, overseeing contracts and deliverables, and effectively handling multiple concurrent projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a particular emphasis on developing professional, impactful reports, briefing materials, and executive summaries.
- Adept at managing information flow, responding to on-demand requests, and delivering timely, accurate intelligence to senior stakeholders.
- High degree of self-motivation, curiosity, proactivity, and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently and anticipate needs in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
What We Do
SoFi wasn’t built to be a bank. Or a technology company. We were built for one mission: help people achieve financial independence so they can realize their ambitions.
Redefining an entire industry isn’t easy work—and it’s not for the faint of heart. It takes a certain kind of team. People with diverse perspectives and expertise, united by a common sense of purpose. People willing to challenge assumptions but always do the right thing. People proving that innovation and responsibility don’t have to compete, but can come together to create something truly unconventional in the world.
For the last eight years, we’ve been charting this new path forward. We call it The SoFi Way.
At SoFi, we don’t just talk about culture: we live it. The SoFi Way is how we show up every day, how we make decisions, and how we build for our members, clients, and each other.
