Why we are recruiting

The Global Regulatory Innovation Platform (GRIP) is creating a new cross-cutting workstream to help shape the governance of tomorrow's most transformative technologies. The Lead, Frontier Technology and Regulatory Innovation will build and lead this new body of work, partnering closely with the Forum's Centre for Frontier Technologies and Innovation and technology initiatives including quantum technologies, autonomous mobility and robotics, biotechnology, planetary systems, and future frontier technology domains to develop innovative regulatory approaches that enable responsible innovation and accelerate societal impact.

The successful candidate will create a scalable model for regulatory innovation that bridges technology development with public policy, strengthens collaboration across the Forum, and delivers practical solutions that can be replicated across industries and jurisdictions.

Working across Centres, industries and geographies, the role will convene global leaders, develop influential knowledge products, and transform dialogue into meaningful implementation through partnerships with governments, regulators, industry, academia and civil society.

Reporting lines & interactions

The Policy Lead, Global Regulatory Innovation Platform (GRIP) will report to the Head of Digital Inclusion and work in a highly collaborative, matrixed environment across the Forum. The role will partner closely with colleagues in the Centre for Frontier Technologies and Innovation, Centre for Cybersecurity, Centre for AI Excellence and other industry teams while building strong relationships with governments, regulators, industry, academia, international organizations and civil society. Success in the role will depend on the ability to foster collaboration, influence across teams, and translate cross-sector partnerships into meaningful regulatory and policy impact

Breakdown of main responsibilities

Strategy and Collaboation

  • Lead the development and execution of a new frontier technology and regulatory innovation cross-cutting workstream within GRIP.
  • Define the long-term strategic vision, priorities and roadmap
  • Serve as the primary liaison between GRIP and the Centre for Frontier Technologies and Innovation and industry teams, fostering deep collaboration across the Forum's technology initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to integrate regulatory thinking early in technology development and programme design.
  •  Build strong internal partnerships to create cohesive, cross-sector initiatives.

Thought Leadership and Content Curation

  • Monitor global regulatory and technology trends to continuously evolve the portfolio.
  • Lead the development of high-quality thought leadership, policy frameworks, reports, white papers, playbooks and other knowledge products.
  • Translate emerging technological developments into practical regulatory and governance insights., ensuring outputs are action-oriented and designed to support implementation by governments and industry.

Partnership Development and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build a robust and engaged multistakeholder community who make up core pillars of the regulatory ecosystem.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with senior leaders from regulatory agencies, international organizations, governments, and partner companies.
  • Organize and facilitate working groups, roundtables, and high-level dialogues.
  • Build synergies with relevant Forum communities including technology communities, Chief Legal Officers, Chief Compliance Officers, and C4IR Centres.

Preferred requirements and experience

  • 7-10+ years of experience at the intersection of technology, public policy, regulation or law.
  • Advanced degree in public policy, law, economics, international relations, regulatory affairs or a related field.
  • Proven track record in managing complex multi-stakeholder projects or platforms at the global or regional level.
  • Strong understanding of frontier technologies and their governance implications, with expertise in one or more areas such as quantum technologies, AI, biotechnology, robotics, autonomous systems or advanced technologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across different cultures and with senior executives and leaders from private and public sectors 
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with experience building new initiatives, programmes or partnerships from concept to implementation.
  • Excellent verbal and written language skills in English, verbal proficiency in other languages is an asset
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and flexible organizational structure
