Responsibilities:
- Responsible for implementing the Company’s policies, procedures, and management actions to ensure compliance with Sustainable Forestry Management, third party certification programs (SFI, FSC, & PEFC), and Chain-of-Custody system certification requirements.
- Responsible for communicating the Company’s SFI commitment and promotion of sustainable forestry practices to employees, wood producers, and suppliers.
- Responsible for staffing efficiently and adequately for all required activities to manage and maintain efficient, safe operations with a high level of productivity.
- Plan, develop, and maintain necessary budgets and operating plans.
- Assure development and use of adequate controls and reporting systems to monitor and report safety, budget, quality, production, and maintenance information to leadership.
- May assist in strategic planning to include plant/department budgets, capital projects, veneer and lumber processing, inventory levels, operating strategies, new product lines, training, staffing, and environmental compliance.
- Accountable for coordinating, planning, and scheduling production to optimize equipment utilization, changes to economic and sales conditions, and to meet customer demands.
- Ensure the establishment and maintenance of safe and healthy working conditions and areas for all employees.
- Lead Boise Improvement Cycle (BIC) activities within area of responsibility.
- Adopt best practices throughout entire manufacturing facility in area of responsibility.
- Maintain company policy and regulatory compliance in supervising/managing.
- Develop and maintain good employee relations, promptly handle and resolve employee complaints and grievances, and proactively communicate with employees.
- Communicate operational goals and strategic initiatives for area of responsibility.
- Train and develop workforce to meet job requirements.
- Accountable for safety, quality, environmental awareness, and continuous process improvement.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
College degree, or equivalent work experience in related job function. Minimum of eight (8) to ten (10) years of experience in manufacturing/wood products/management, including demonstrated responsibility for all areas identified. Requires a self-motivated, results-oriented individual with good analytical and communication skills, excellent planning and organizational skills, and a demonstrated commitment to the process of continuous improvement. A solid understanding of manufacturing practices and equipment is required. Must have the ability to work well with people at all levels and facilitate change and growth as needed in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor of Science, or technical degree in related field (Engineering, Forestry, Wood Science). Prefer more than ten (10) years of experience in manufacturing/wood products/management, including demonstrated responsibility for all areas identified.
