Full time position, 40 hrs/wk. (Grade 20, Base). Must be able to work a flexible schedule which may include evenings and weekends, in addition up to two weeks of “Mandatory New Hire Orientation & Training” located at the Administrative Offices in Norman.


POSITION SUMMARY:

Oversees implementation, data collection and evaluation of programs, services and collections related to the Signature Service areas for the Pioneer Library System. Aligns departmental efforts in support of the PLS Strategic Plan. Supervises a team of staff and provides staff support across the system.  Provides outstanding and high-level customer service to all customers; manages departmental budgets and works under the direction of the Director of Community Engagement and Learning.  Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education and/or experience:

  • MLS or MLIS from ALA accredited college or university required;
  • Six years relevant library or related experience;        
  • Three years supervisory experience preferred;
  • Equivalent combination of technical training, education, and/or experience may be considered;
  • Valid driver’s license.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Understands and performs basic functions and tasks of common software programs and email applications;
  • Knowledge of outreach and public programming practices;
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures for public library service and the ability to interpret them to the staff and the public;
  • Strong skills in written and spoken communications, and interpersonal relationships;
  • Working knowledge in the operation of computers and office equipment, standard office software products, electronic resources, internet and database information retrieval;
  • Lift up to 25 lbs; retrieve and replace items from floor level to at least 5 1/2 feet in height;
  • Work a flexible schedule which may include evenings and weekends.
