The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description
NBC News Digital is looking for an editor to join its platforms team in London. The editor will curate NBCNews.com's owned and social platforms, including the homepage and app, write breaking news alerts for the app and email, and distribute stories across social accounts. The editor will handle stories from all newsroom sections including breaking news, world, politics, business, sports, and lifestyle, with a focus on strategizing distribution and enhancing engagement of our stories.
The editor will play a critical role in shaping morning coverage across platforms, confidently making decisions on what leads the website, identifying trending and top stories, and determining what to alert to a morning audience. Given the role's hours, the editor must be a self-starter who is comfortable working independently and knows when to ask for support. A working knowledge of U.S. politics and current affairs is essential, as is an understanding of U.S. media.
The ideal candidate will be a strong writer and editor with excellent news judgment and a deep understanding of digital platforms. Strong communication skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines are crucial.
This is a full-time position based in London. The hours are Monday to Friday, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. GMT, with occasional weekend work required on an as-needed basis. This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of 3 days per week.
Key tasks
• Curate the NBC News homepage, app and social channels with a lively mix of breaking news, politics, enterprise reporting and video
• Curate and distribute live blogs, live video and breaking news stories
• Frame and package stories from all sections of the newsroom, tailoring them to different digital audiences
• Plan and create distribution strategies for world stories across owned and social platforms
• Write and edit headlines, alerts, social copy and contribute to newsletter production
• Distribute and pitch stories to partners such as Apple News, Yahoo and Flipboard
• Monitor analytics and audience behavior to inform story curation and strategy
• Work with photo editors to ensure the homepage and app are always looking sharp
• Ensure a seamless handover with the editors in Los Angeles and New York
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent and comparable work experience
• 3 or more years' experience in an international digital newsroom
• A broad knowledge of current affairs, including US politics & affairs, international affairs, pop culture and sports
• Must be comfortable working in a hybrid work environment
