Position Summary & Key Areas of Responsibility 

• Able to wear multiple hats: navigates freely between technical, execution, operations, etc.
• Passionate: enjoys coding and designing next generation cloud technologies and architectures
• Knowledgeable: cloud native microservices architecture, data architecture, analytics, software/application architecture, modern cloud security
• Able to produce outstanding designs and communicate them using diverse techniques, including documentation, POCs, demos, and educational sessions
• Hands on coding: able to jump in to help teams understand best practices and meet deadlines
• Strong experience with solutions-based architectures working with globally distributed teams and products to build out end to end cloud native integrations across our retail solutions
• Participate and contribute to an effective software development lifecycle including a high focus on customer support and root cause analysis 
• Build a test plan and conduct testing based on knowledge of system architecture, interdependencies and interactions 
• Accurately estimate time and resources for software development and test efforts 

• Provide technical leadership and assistance to internal and external product development teams 
• Mentor others on the team with a growth mindset 
• Manage and track software defects and coordinate with development team for resolution 
• Can diagnose and debug issues within the system or in downstream dependencies, working with other teams to resolve issues in a timely manner 
• Be an advocate of quality-up-front and test driven/behavior driven development, supporting the team with the Definition of Ready and achieving our Definition of Done  

Basic Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering
• 4+ years of experience working with software engineering teams in designing and building cloud platforms and infrastructure
• 2+ years of experience working with Kubernetes and containerized platforms
• 2+ years of experience with data monitoring and logging tools like StackDriver or Prometheus
• 2+ years of experience with CI/CD tools and technology; like GitHub Actions, GitHub and Artifactory
• 2+ years of experience with programming languages such as Go, Node.js, Java, Python
• 2+ years of experience working with IAC/CM technology; like Terraform, Ansible and Helm
• Data architecture (e.g. transactional and analytical processing, real-time analytics, etc.)
• Experience with designing and implementing multi-tenant SaaS systems
• Experience with cloud-based technologies and cloud adoption at the enterprise scale (e.g. leading enterprise-wide adoption of PaaS, Big Data platforms).
• Strong collaboration and coaching skills
• Strong believer in Infrastructure as Code
• A continual learner that stays up-to-date on the latest technologies (attends and ideally presents at tech conferences)
• Ability to document and publish recommendations and guidance

Preferred Qualifications 

• Experience with GCP, GKE, Apigee, and Istio
• Experience with cloud-based integration, build and deploy technologies
