Job Description:

The Wall Street Journal internship programme is an opportunity primarily for university students in their second year, to work in our award-winning newsroom in London. Final year students (undergraduate and graduate), enrolled in a degree programme by the application deadline are also eligible to apply.

You will work closely with editors on the London news hub, a team that captures breaking news and is crucial in setting up the U.S. day for the best possible reader experience across all platforms and for every article published. You will edit and publish news and feature articles at speed, with a focus on writing sharp headlines. You will also help curate our native platforms such as the WSJ app, home page and social feeds, and off-platforms such as Google showcase and WhatsApp.

There might also be some opportunities to work with other reporters and editors on spot news and to generate your own story ideas for features.

We are looking for ambitious students who think foremost about the audience and are able to work independently under deadline pressure. You don’t need to be a business or economics expert, but a commitment to high journalistic standards is a must. You should have demonstrated excellent news judgment, strong editing and sharp writing skills and a sense of the ideal visual presentation for various platforms. Familiarity with digital publishing and analytics tools is a plus.

You should have completed at least one prior reporting internship with another professional media organization or published exceptional work with a campus news outlet or as a freelancer.

Fluency in English is required and fluency in at least one additional European language is strongly preferred. Applicants must have the right to work in the U.K.

HOW TO APPLY:

Please upload one PDF document (max. 10MB). Your application document should contain:

  • A cover letter (max. 800 words)

  • Your résumé.

  • Three examples of your published work. Please include full articles, not hyperlinks.

The deadline to apply is Friday, Oct. 31, 2025 at midnight Eastern time. Late or incomplete submissions will not be considered.

Internship timing: 10 weeks between June and August.

Only finalists will be contacted. We will review applications on a rolling basis and strive to make selections by the end of January.
