Guidewire is the platform P&C insurers trust to engage, innovate, and grow efficiently.
The Role
Own the roadmap and backlog for cloud platform capabilities across deployment tooling, observability, Kubernetes compute, networking, and shared services. Translate developer and customer needs into requirements, prioritize agile delivery, partner with engineering and SRE, support launches, and measure adoption, reliability, performance, and cost outcomes. The role requires strong AWS and cloud-native knowledge, familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, observability, networking, and multi-tenancy, plus clear communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Summary

Cloud Common Services (CCS) builds the essential cloud infrastructure and platform services that power the Guidewire Cloud Platform (GWCP). At the heart of this is Atmos, Guidewire's "PaaS within SaaS" layer — built on AWS, Kubernetes, and Docker — that automates the deployment, scaling, and management of containerized core applications, cloud-native services, and associated workloads.
As Platform Product Manager, you'll own the roadmap and delivery for a defined set of platform capabilities within CCS/Atmos that internal engineering teams and external insurer customers rely on every day. Working closely with senior product leaders, engineering, and SRE, you'll help shape how Guidewire delivers infrastructure as a product — with a focus on developer experience, reliability, security, and cost efficiency.
This role is a strong fit for someone with a solid technical foundation in cloud infrastructure who is building their product management career and wants to grow into platform strategy ownership.

Job Description

We are looking for candidates with 6–10 years of overall work experience, including a minimum of 1–2 years in Product Management (or a product-adjacent role such as technical program management, solutions engineering, or platform engineering with product responsibilities).

  • Own the roadmap and backlog for one or more platform service areas within CCS/Atmos — such as deployment tooling, observability, Kubernetes-based compute, networking, or shared platform services — in alignment with the broader CCS product strategy.
  • Develop a working understanding of the Guidewire Cloud ecosystem, the multi-tenant/hybrid-tenancy architecture, and the needs of both internal developer teams and external customers.
  • Treat platform infrastructure as a product: identify friction in developer workflows and define capabilities that improve productivity, self-service, and time-to-value.
  • Partner with Engineering, SRE/Operations, UX, and Enablement to discover, test, refine, and prioritize solutions.
  • Write clear feature requirements and user stories with well-defined use cases and acceptance criteria.
  • Contribute to roadmap planning by bringing customer insight, usage data, and operational feedback to prioritization discussions.
  • Support the launch of new platform services and features; define success metrics, measure adoption and performance, and iterate.
  • Be a power user of the platform capabilities you build.
  • Communicate progress, trade-offs, and outcomes clearly to engineering teams and stakeholders.
  • Embrace a culture of curiosity, innovation, and responsible use of AI — using emerging tools and data-driven insights to improve how you and your teams work.

We're looking for someone who
  • Has experience working on platform, infrastructure, or developer-facing products — as a product manager, or in a technical role (engineering, SRE, DevOps, solutions/technical program management) with a demonstrated interest in moving into product management.
  • Has a solid understanding of AWS services and cloud-native architectures (AWS Cloud Practitioner certification is a plus).
  • Understands containerization and container orchestration (Docker & Kubernetes) and the basics of running services at scale.
  • Is familiar with core platform concerns such as CI/CD, observability/monitoring, networking, multi-tenancy, reliability (SLO/SLA), and cost awareness.
  • Can translate customer and developer needs into clear requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Is comfortable managing and prioritizing a product backlog and working in agile delivery cycles.
  • Collaborates effectively with engineering and operations teams through design, development, testing, release, and maintenance.
  • Uses data and customer feedback to inform decisions and measure outcomes.
  • Communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Is eager to learn, take ownership, and grow into broader product strategy responsibilities.

Nice to have
  • Exposure to identity and access management concepts — SAML, OIDC/OAuth 2.0, SSO, SCIM — and how they apply to platform services.
  • Experience with load balancing and networking in cloud environments.
  • AWS Cloud Practitioner (or higher) certification.
  • Familiarity with Aha! and JIRA.
  • Prior experience in a SaaS or enterprise software environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 5% as needed.

Role-specific competencies
  • Customer Need: Comfortable engaging with internal developer teams and external customers to understand their needs and document use cases.
  • Product Execution: Ability to turn prioritized needs into well-specified, deliverable increments and see them through to launch.
  • Collaboration: Works well across cross-functional teams and builds trust with engineering partners.
  • Results Driven: Tracks adoption and outcomes, learns from data, and iterates.
  • Communication: Able to explain both the technical detail and business value of platform work to the appropriate audience.
  • Motivation: A genuine interest in the craft of product management and in platform/infrastructure as a product.
