Purpose of the role
Man Group develops and operates trading systems that make trillions of dollars of trades every year. To help support these systems, we have an open role in Sofia. This role will be part of a team that provides operational support, Incident triage and Change control for both internal and 3rd party applications across the Man estate. Monitoring production systems and working closely with business users and engineers to facilitate quick resolution to critical issues. In addition to supporting systems, you will also be responsible for the deployment of changes to the estate.
This role will suit someone who is looking for a skilled, responsible position, where they will interact with many systems, gatekeeping our production areas from researchers, developers, and other users.
This role is part of a shift rota, with the team rotating covering throughout the day, from early morning (08:00 GMT) through to late evening (00.00 GMT). There is also planned weekend work that rotates around the team, on average no more than once per month at the moment.
Specific Responsibilities
- Monitoring the production estate, responding to alerts and escalating to support and development teams
- Implementing Changes to our production systems across the estate
- Facilitating the ITIL-aligned processes across the Technology department (Change, Incident and Problem management)
- Owning (maintenance and operation) the Managed File Transfer product in use at Man
Key Competencies
- Communication skills are critical; your colleagues will range from senior business managers to junior developers and operators; you must be comfortable liaising at any level, and your duties will involve out-of-hours contact with support staff.
- 3+ years of previous Operations Support experience
- An eye for detail and a dedication to the responsibilities of the role
- Awareness of the ITIL framework
- Working knowledge of the Linux and Windows operating systems
- Basic knowledge of git; python or Powershell
- Willingness to learn and master new skills and technologies
- Ability to work flexible hours and shifts, including late evening (US) shifts.
Advantageous
- A good level of general computer knowledge in a variety of domains (Networking, Storage, Automation principles, etc.)
- Previous experience with MFT software
- Advanced Python or Powershell abilities (Scripting)
- Prior experience in supporting financial systems or services
