Job Summary:
The Platform Manager is responsible for overseeing the products within their assigned Line of Business (LOB). This role involves maintaining the product portfolio, ensuring financial and market viability, and managing the product lifecycle from conception to end of life. The Platform Manager follows a product vision, defines features and requirements for market success, leads the Product Development Process (PDP), and aligns with the product strategy set by the Director Product Portfolio. This is an onsite position located in Livonia, MI. 
As a Platform Manager, you will:
  • Evaluate new product opportunities within the designated LOB through data-driven research, with support from Sales and Marketing
  • Maintain a product cycle plan including business cases, pricing, product features and requirements, and program timing
  • Author compelling Program Kick-Off (PKO) and Product Definition Letters (PDL) for all new products with input and commitment from the cross-functional team
  • Create and own the business case for products from cycle plan through to End of Life (EOL)
  • Lead the Product Development Process (PDP) for all programs within the LOB, ensuring all deliverables are executed while balancing scope, quality, schedule, budget, resources, and risk from POL to Management Sign Off (MSO)
  • Ensure cross-functional adherence to the Product Development Process, including compliance and timely, accurate gate reviews for management approval
  • Oversee post-launch product lifecycle decisions and implementation including changes to Bill of Materials (BOM) cost, content, tooling requirements, minimum order quantities, pricing, and end of life
  • Manage the EOL process, ensuring the cross-functional team completes deliverables to effectively sunset products and transition to service parts only
  • Track and report Platform Management Goals such as Gross Margin, Program Metrics, and Longer-Term Portfolio Objectives
  • Ensure programs/projects utilize best practice tools and methods as defined by the Program Management Office
Minimum qualifications to be considered: 
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of program or product management experience
  • Ability to analyze market data and translate analysis into actionable product strategy
  • Working knowledge of program management processes such as change control, risk identification and phase gate processes
  • Proficiency with program management tools such as Earned Value Management (EVM), risk analysis, communication planning, business cases, and schedules (timing plans)
  • Ability to develop and manage a prescribed program budget
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to solve complex problems and be self-motivated
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office  Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to lead team meetings and program reviews.
A successful candidate may also have:
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Master's degree in engineering, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, order management, inventory transactions and creating cost reports or summaries
