The systems that support global travel operate at significant scale and require thoughtful approaches to scalability, resiliency, and geographic distribution. These platforms support more than 150 airlines, hundreds of websites, airports, and hotel properties worldwide, processing large volumes of transactions with consistently low response times.
The Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) team provides a secure, self-service, and cost-effective database platform for SQL and NoSQL technologies, including Couchbase, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL), MariaDB, and Oracle. The team manages the full database lifecycle, from automation development to security and compliance, tooling, and operations, within a highly available enterprise environment. The team operates in a global, follow-the-sun model with colleagues located in Bangalore, Bogota, Europe, and the United States.
Summary of the RoleThe Platform Engineering Engineer 2 supports the design, management, and optimization of cloud and infrastructure platforms to ensure performance, reliability, and security. This role focuses on automation, modern infrastructure practices, and collaboration across engineering teams to deliver end-to-end solutions aligned with business outcomes.
You will contribute to project teams and cross-department initiatives, working independently on defined tasks while receiving guidance on broader technical strategies.
Your Main ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, test, and document infrastructure and database automation components.
Build and maintain cloud and platform solutions using automation, Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), and Platform as a Service (PaaS) technologies.
Support containerized workloads using Kubernetes and Docker.
Participate in incident investigation, troubleshooting, and on-call support using structured operational processes.
Continuously improve platform capabilities by following technology trends and contributing enhancements to the engineering community.
About the Ideal Candidate
Qualifications and Skills
University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
Relevant experience in platform engineering, infrastructure, or DevOps roles.
Experience working with Linux systems (e.g., Red Hat distributions) and infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
Familiarity with scripting and automation using languages such as Python and shell scripting, as well as version control and continuous integration tools (Git, Jenkins).
Experience with one or more cloud providers (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or OpenStack), container platforms, and exposure to artificial intelligence (AI) technologies at scale.
