Position Summary
We are hiring a Platform Engineer to help build and operate the core platform that powers software delivery across Yes Energy. This role sits within the Platform Team, part of the Product Technology Services (PTS) group, and is focused on the foundation our development and operations teams depend on: application platform support, CI/CD pipelines, containers and Kubernetes, observability, and infrastructure as code that is repeatable, safe, and secure.
This is a hands-on individual contributor role. You will independently implement and improve meaningful parts of the platform, contribute to the patterns and standards the team works from, take part in design and code review, and mentor other engineers. We run a lean, high-trust operation, so we need someone who can self-direct, learn new technologies quickly, and exercise sound judgment about which technologies are genuinely beneficial — not just which are new. Success in this role means helping deliver a resilient, scalable platform that empowers developers and operators, accelerates delivery, and holds a high standard for stability, security, and observability.
Position Details
- Salary Range: Net 17.000 - 20.000 RON/month
- Location: Hybrid (Bucharest, Romania)
- Schedule: Full-time; 2-3 days in the office (at least 2 days overlap with US MT workday)
- Reporting to: Platform Engineering Manager
Primary Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain the application platform — self-service tools, reusable patterns, and golden paths that let developers focus on building features.
- Build, improve, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows that make delivery faster, safer, and more repeatable.
- Operate and advance our container and Kubernetes platforms, with a focus on reliability, scalability, and developer experience.
- Build and maintain infrastructure as code that is repeatable, safe, and secure; Terraform strongly preferred.
- Strengthen observability across the platform using the Elastic Stack — logging, metrics, dashboards, and alerting.
- Work across cloud environments — Azure, AWS, and OCI — applying cloud-native patterns for compute, networking, identity, and cost-aware operations.
- Contribute to the team's standards and reusable patterns, take part in design and code review, and mentor other engineers.
- Evaluate and recommend fit-for-purpose tooling, balancing developer experience, operational simplicity, security, cost, and maintainability.
- Partner with other PTS teams to keep platform capabilities reliable, secure, and well integrated.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
- Five or more years of professional experience in platform engineering, infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, or software engineering supporting production systems.
- Strong, hands-on experience operating production cloud infrastructure, including compute, networking, identity, storage, and monitoring.
- Hands-on experience operating containers and Kubernetes in production.
- Strong experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
- Production experience with infrastructure as code; Terraform strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of observability, monitoring, logging, and alerting.
- Solid scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- A self-directed learner who picks up new technologies independently, makes pragmatic decisions about technology selection, and is comfortable mentoring peers and contributing to team standards.
- Systems Thinking: Takes a broad, holistic view of infrastructure and understands how people, processes, and technology interact to build scalable, aligned, and resilient platform solutions
- Problem Solving: Applies structured thinking and sound judgment to break down complex system failures, identify root causes, and generate practical, scalable technical fixes
- Platform Architecture & Design: Applies modern architectural patterns to design maintainable cloud platforms, knowing exactly when to utilize container orchestration, automation, and self-service paradigms based on organizational context.
- Pragmatic Technology Selection: Evaluates and selects tooling based on long-term maintainability and business value rather than novelty, keeping the engineering footprint consolidated yet open to optimization.
- Security & Compliance: Builds infrastructure with robust access controls, identity management, and governance patterns in mind, partnering with safety compliance guardrails.
- Effective Communication: Delivers clear, concise, and purposeful technical context, adapting written and verbal explanations seamlessly to both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders
- Technical Leadership & Growth Mindset: Models strong software engineering practices, acts as a self-directed learner who can autonomously lift team capabilities, and actively mentors peers.
- AI/ML Workload Exposure: Exposure to supporting or provisioning infrastructure for AI/ML engineering, machine learning pipelines, or data science environments is a major plus.
