Role Overview
This role is for someone who can design systems that are scaled but also isn’t precious about building temporary things when we need a demo, a pilot, or something to show a room full of stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain business applications, internal tools, and customer-facing solutions
- Assist teams and stakeholders in developing applications using AI-assisted development tools
- Review, validate, and improve AI-generated code before deployment
- Establish standards and best practices for AI-assisted software development
- Create and maintain code review, testing, and deployment processes
- Design and implement CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
- Support application deployments across cloud and on-premises environments
- Troubleshoot application, infrastructure, and deployment issues
- Collaborate with IT, engineering, and business teams to deliver solutions quickly and safely
- Document development standards, deployment procedures, and operational processes
- Evaluate emerging AI development tools and recommend best practices for adoption
- Help establish a scalable framework for application development across the organization

Basic Qualifications
- Strong backend experience (startup or production systems)
- Comfortable owning systems end-to-end
- Strong application development experience in modern programming languages and frameworks
- Familiarity with local LLM deployment and inference infrastructure (Ollama or similar)
- Experience managing containerized AI workloads in resource-constrained environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building and deploying production applications
- Comfortable reviewing, refactoring, and validating code written by others
- Understanding software architecture, application lifecycle management, and development best practices
- Familiarity with DevOps principles and deployment automation
- Ability to balance rapid delivery with maintainability and security
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Skills Required
- Strong backend experience (startup or production systems)
- Comfortable owning systems end-to-end
- Experience with AWS in real environments (EC2, ECS/EKS, RDS, S3, IAM)
- Solid understanding of PostgreSQL beyond basic CRUD
- Understand how systems fail at scale and make tradeoffs
- Ability to build temporary/throwaway systems for demos and later harden them
- Design APIs used by web apps, mobile apps, and devices
- Build async pipelines, background jobs, and event-driven workflows; debug production issues
- Experience with caching layers such as Redis
- Familiarity with AI integrations into the platform
- Django or Django Rest Framework experience at scale
- Experience with FastAPI, Flask, Node, or Go
- Experience with event systems (SQS, Kafka, RabbitMQ)
- Experience with WebSockets, MQTT, or streaming data
- Experience with IoT or managing large device fleets
