Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated and talented Platform Engineer to join our platform engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cloud technologies, microservices, and a solid understanding of networking and security principles. As a Platform Engineer at Fido, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing our Cloud-based infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and security.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop platform engineering interfaces to boost up developer productivity.
• Manage and optimize AWS services including API Gateway, EKS, Lambda, Step Functions, EC2, ElastiCache, DynamoDB, RDS and more.
• Implement and maintain network and security measures to ensure the integrity and performance of our platforms.
• Contribute to the development and operation of our microservices architecture in EKS environments.
• Utilize GitHub Actions for CI/CD and leverage GitOps principles and ArgoCD for efficient deployment processes.
• Administer and troubleshoot Linux-based environments.
• Develop scripts and automation tools using Python and Bash to streamline operations.
• Maintain and improve web services and API integrations.
• Work with monitoring tools like Datadog, Prometheus, and Grafana to ensure high availability and performance of our services.
• Manage infrastructure as code using Terraform & Terragrunt.
• Work closely with developers, data engineers and data scientists to optimize service performance, reliability and scale.
• Responsible for maintaining and optimizing a critical real-time B2C production system, serving hundreds of thousands of end-users, ensuring high availability, scalability and performance.

Qualifications:

• 1-2 years of experience in platform engineering or a related field.
• Solid understanding of AWS cloud services and microservices architecture.
• Proficiency in network and security principles.
• Experience with container orchestration using Kubernetes and EKS.
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices, particularly using GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, and GitOps methodologies - advantage.
• Strong knowledge of Linux systems.
• Proficient in scripting with Python/Go and Bash.
• Experience with web services and API management - advantage.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools like Datadog, Prometheus, or Grafana - advantage.
• Experience with Kustomize for Kubernetes manifests management - advantage.
• Experience with Crossplane - advantage.
• Experience with platform engineering tools development - advantage.
• Knowledge of infrastructure as code practices, particularly with Terragrunt, Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
• Quick learner with a passion for new technologies and a “can-do” approach to problem-solving.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Experience with Cloudflare - advantage.
• A strong sense of ownership and accountability.
•  A great team player who wants to work very closely with developers and on the same team.
