The Team

The Systems Platform Team provides the building blocks used by all teams to deploy, secure, and monitor products that are common to all Krakens. We bake stability and security into our architecture, and remove any infrastructural blockers to Kraken meeting its scaling goals.

We manage all infrastructure shared across global Krakens, including deployment pipelines, cloud hosting and networking, and make sure this infrastructure is simple to duplicate, maintain and understand. 

What you'll do:

  • Deliver platform improvements through features, bug fixes, and automation.
  • Manage and operate Kubernetes-based environments - we use EKS.
  • Implement and maintain GitOps workflows using ArgoCD or FluxCD.
  • Build platform tooling and automation primarily in Go or Python also 
  • acceptable.
  • Provide production support for highly-available, internet-facing systems.
  • Collaborate with a global, remote-first team using asynchronous 
  • communication.
  • Contribute to code reviews, troubleshooting, and technology evaluations.

What you'll have:

  • Prior experience managing Kubernetes clusters in production across major cloud platforms (EKS, AKS, GKE); EKS experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Helm for package management in Kubernetes.
  • Practical experience with GitOps tools such as ArgoCD or FluxCD in production.
  • Proficiency in Go (preferred) or Python for platform automation and development.
  • Strong understanding of AWS services beyond Kubernetes (networking, IAM, storage, etc.).
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform or similar).
  • Knowledge of containers and observability tools (Datadog or similar).
  • Understanding of security best practices in Kubernetes and CI/CD.
  • Clear and effective communication skills in distributed, asynchronous teams.

  • The salary range for this role in the US ranges on average from $115,000-$150,000 depending on relevant experience, role alignment, and performance throughout the interview process. While the broad salary range is listed, not all candidates will be placed at the top of the range—this will be determined by the overall fit for the position. We are ideally looking to hire this role in New York City, but would consider anyone in the East Coast timezone.
