POSITION SUMMARY:
The Platform Engineer 2 is a crucial member of the Storage & Virtualization Team and focuses on moving many of our current platforms to a resilient state between multiple data centers and the cloud. Getting familiar with new advanced technologies while ensuring stability and performance within the existing infrastructure will be essential. Makes updates to system related installation documentation. Performs end-user support. Proactively researches and locates necessary tools and processes to identify troublesome trends as they develop. Ensures a stable performance environment for the enterprise systems. Participates in various IT projects intended to continually improve/upgrade the enterprise platforms.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
- Design, implement, and maintain a scalable and secure VMware VDI environment.
- Monitor and optimize virtual desktop pools for performance and end-user experience.
- Implementation of system upgrades and modifications, including planning, testing, scheduling, and coordination. Ensures that change management and defined security procedures for all assigned systems are executed following organizational standards.
- Analyze, monitor, and maintain systems and implement changes required to achieve performant workloads.
- Lead infrastructure migration to resilient on-premises cross-site deployments and cloud platforms.
- Proactively identify trends, determine incident root causes, and manage adverse events from identification to resolution, including metrics and capacity planning.
- Perform research, analysis, system design, documentation, testing implementation, and ongoing support for the end user workspace environment.
- Mitigates risk by following established standards for vulnerability remediation.
- Maintain and perform tuning on various virtualization technologies in coordination with multiple infrastructure teams.
- Must be able to work independently with little to no daily supervision, is a team player, and be open to ideas and learning.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, technical leads, database administrators, and other team members to ensure timely and budget-compliant project implementations.
- Be part of a regular on-call rotation schedule.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline; equivalent experience acceptable.

EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or another related field. A combination of education and experience may meet qualifications. Work equivalency.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Detailed knowledge and hands-on experience with VMware and/or Citrix products including virtual desktops.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including DNS, TCP/IP, and Routing protocols.
- Working knowledge of the ITIL framework, including change, incident, and problem management.
- In-depth knowledge of virtualization-storage interface methodologies (SDRS/thin-on-thin, replication datastores, etc.)
- Experience installing and configuring systems Dell systems (Cisco UCS is a plus)
- Creative and analytical thinker.
Compensation Range:
$90,500.00- $131,500.00This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, skills, and certifications/licensures as they directly relate to position requirements; as well as business/organizational needs, internal equity, and market-competitiveness.
