Within the Hardware Platforms R&D division of Advanced Innovation, the hardware platform (HWP) group develops next-generation hardware platforms for implantable hearing solutions. This activity has a significant impact on the future of Cochlear’s products. Hardware platforms consist of custom ASICs, HAL (FW), electrical and wireless components that meet the needs of multiple products and product families.

The Platform ASIC Project Manager will manage and coordinate the development of one or more Platform and/or ASIC projects developed from concept phase to project closure within the HW Platform group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and support Platform and/or ASIC technology development projects from concept phase to project closure, and make sure the projects are delivered within schedule and budget

  • Represent the project towards senior management, including preparation and presentation of project status, risks and forecasts

  • Develop concept proposals for new designs

  • Plan, conduct and support risk management such as DFMEA and hazard analysis

  • Plan, conduct and support project and design reviews according to the Cochlear’s quality system

  • Specify, plan, conduct and manage verification activities

  • Manage all aspects of interaction and engagement with internal key stakeholders & external partners

  • Contribute to future platform definition and directions for Cochlear products

  • Partner effectively with other departments at Sydney, Mechelen and Gothenburg to ensure hardware platform requirements and interdependencies are understood and accounted for

Key requirements

  • Master in electronic engineering degree or equivalent by experience

  • 3+ years of relevant project management experience

  • Ability to understand and discuss technical issues at both a high and low level

  • Excellent influencing and leadership skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent team player and team builder

  • Relationship building and stakeholder management

  • Quality minded, focused on details

  • Pragmatic problem solver and pro-active / team player
