Job DescriptionTEL San Jose Thin Films team seeks a plasma scientist and engineer with expertise in semiconductor plasma processes, plasma system design, and plasma process optimization. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in controlling plasma parameters, performing plasma diagnostics, and in designing/constructing/troubleshooting industrial scale vacuum systems. Prior experience in the semiconductor industry is a plus. Skills in data analysis, coding, and applying machine learning/AI techniques to accelerate learning and productivity are strongly desired. Passion for technology; and strong collaboration, communication, and teamwork skills will benefit the candidate in this fast-paced results-oriented laboratory environment.
Education and Experience Requirements
Advanced degree (Ph.D.) in science/engineering disciplines with hands-on experience in plasma processes. Candidates with master’s degree and relevant work experience will also be considered. Knowledge of plasma-based semiconductor processing is a strong advantage.
Responsibilities
• Primarily responsible for development and characterization of plasma processes on equipment
• Investigates the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions and products. May participate in development of patent applications.
• Initiates the design, development, execution and implementation of technology research projects.
• Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories and may contribute to scientific literature and conferences.
• May coordinate interdepartmental activities and research efforts.
• Develops deposition processes related to semiconductor processes (PVD, PECVD, PEALD)
• Performs diagnostic experiments, e.g., spectroscopy, to refine the process
• Designs and executes process optimization experiments. Characterizes, compiles, and analyzes test data to determine appropriate limits and variables for process or material specifications.
• Coordinates process development work, maintenance activities, troubleshooting, and acts as a technical customer interface.
• Provides input to TEL factory on process and machine issues and works closely with the factory on solutions.
