Responsible for leading the site Quality Control function, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Oversees the QC laboratory, quality systems, audits, and quality performance metrics, while driving continuous improvement, root cause analysis, and corrective actions. Manages and develops the QC team, supports operational excellence, and ensures ongoing compliance with ISO standards, customer requirements, and company quality objectives.

Responsibilities
  • The enforcement of safe systems of work, provision of safe equipment and working environment, and ensuring employees/contractors are provided with and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Ensure employees are adequately informed, instructed, trained and supervised to safely carry out work, striving for zero recordable injuries and ensuring safety and environmental incidents are fully investigated with appropriate countermeasures established.
  • Overall management of Quality Control systems, including ownership of the QC laboratory, staff, equipment, instrument calibration, analytical methods, and QC coverage in line with the site shift pattern.
  • Supervises staff to include hiring, training, evaluating performance, providing compensation recommendations, determining disciplinary actions, and ensuring effective training and development for the QC team.
  • Own incoming raw material quality control, supplier non-conformance reporting, Certificates of Analysis and Certificates of Conformity, and the site HACCP program.
  • Own the site document management system and electronic Quality Control record management in line with agreed procedures, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, SW Quest Quality Standards, and customer audit readiness requirements.
  • Prepare and own the site Quality Tactical Plan and drive site quality metrics including OTMIS, distressed batch rate (DBR), manufacturing complaint rate, supplier non-conformance reporting, and FMAP.
  • Review product quality complaints and out-of-specification approvals, conduct finished product quality audits, lead root cause analysis, and drive corrective actions with Operations, Maintenance and EHS.
  • Work with colleagues to drive improvement in OTMIS and reduction in distressed batches, support problem solving, facilitate continuous improvement activities, and drive quality ownership across the site.
  • Hold independent quality authority for QC batch release and sign-off, own the QC department budget, and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. FORMAL EDUCATION:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Chemistry or equivalent education and experience.
  • Certification or License within a quality program or body of knowledge is preferred; ISO 9001 Lead Auditor and/or Six Sigma an advantage.

 

  1. TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Five years of progressive experience within the manufacturing industry, including supervisory experience; chemical process manufacturing background preferred.
  • Proficiency with root cause analysis (RCA) tools (mandatory);
  • Analytical or laboratory management experience (an advantage);
  • Budget preparation and management;
  • Applying comprehensive quality management principles and practices;
  • Developing and implementing programs, policies, and procedures;
  • Investigating and resolving complex product and operational problems
  • Leading activities with other departments or groups;
  • Auditing comprehensive programs and operations for quality;
  • Developing, analyzing and reviewing quality reports and documents;
  • Interpreting and applying department policies and procedures and applicable laws, rules, and regulations;
  • PC skills; Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); and other applicable applications;
  • Communicating with co-workers to provide and receive direction.
