Manages all manufacturing operations in the Business Unit’s Production Departments and supports service operations including quality control, safety, warehousing, product and materials testing, maintenance, freight and delivery by following established schedules and production plans to manufacture quality products efficiently, on time and in such a manner as to maximize profits.

Requirements

  • Directs, supervises, and motivates department supervisors in their assigned responsibilities.
  • Recommends the use of overtime as required to meet delivery schedules.
  • Maintains the overall efficiency of all productions departments. 
  • Assures the proper maintenance of all manufacturing machinery in order to ensure uninterrupted production. 
  • Recommends equipment purchases and new procedures to improve production.
  • Purchases supplies and services necessary to the operation of the manufacturing areas.
  • Conducts regular production meetings with supervisors.
  • Hosts or directs the visits to the plant of all customer representatives giving press OK's.
  • Communicates, interprets and enforces company policies, procedures and "shop rules" and recommends such changes as considered advisable.
  • Gives necessary guidance to supervisors to ensure accuracy of time collection.
  • Ensures good housekeeping practices are followed in order to maintain a clean healthful and safe plant for employees and customers.
  • Cooperates, works with and/or assists other department heads as requested or needed concerning such things as customer service and relations, production planning and scheduling, purchasing, accounting or finance.
  • Directs the maintenance of buildings, grounds and parking lot. Maintains files on all building repairs.
  • Prepares budgets and recommends both short and long-term goals for strategic planning purposes.
  • Keeps abreast of all manufacturing technological progress in the graphic arts.
  • Attends industry trade shows when possible.
  • Participates in industry and community affairs.
  • Performs other duties as requested. 
  • All other duties as assigned

· 5+ years of management experience in print industry preferred

· Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)

· Familiarity with print industry standard equipment and technical expertise

· Be knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes

· Computer literacy

· Ability to create accountability and to lead by example

· Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills

· Ability to lead and foster growth and development on the team

· Effective communications skills with all levels within the organization

· The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation
