Position: Plant - EHS Internship
Location: 1000 Italian Way, Excelsior Springs, MO 64024
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:00pm
Perks: Paid Internship with additional one-time $1,000 lump sum payment to support expenses.
Duration: Summer Internship - Mid/End may to Mid/End- August
This internship role is primarily responsible for providing EHS support to a plant-based organization with regards to all aspects of EHS including safety policy interpretation, safety management, investigations, EHS reporting, safety rewards and recognition. This position will also dedicate time to specific EHS special projects.
Position Responsibilities:
Provide coaching and advice to management on effective ways to administer EHS programs.
Provide current and prospective employees with information about safety policies.
Actively participates in safety meetings and/or investigations.
Prepare safety records related to safety events, incidents, or audits.
Assist in implementing programs and policies to ensure EHS compliance.
Assists EHS Manager in the management of worker’s compensation process and other EHS initiatives.
Skills and Experience:
General knowledge of state and federal OSHA laws
Effective and deliberate communication skills, both verbal and written
Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Ability to effectively multi-task with a strong sense of urgency
Ability to work closely with EHS management and leadership teams
Highly motivated, energetic, hands-on
Minimum Requirements:
- Current enrollment at a graduate institution with a record of strong academic performance (overall GPA of 3.0 or higher/junior status).
