Job Summary
The principal purpose of this position is to oversee production planning department for De Soto paperboard converting. Planning department consist of three full time planning personnel responsible for planning sheeting/slitting, press, die cut, forming and boxing schedules on a 24/7 basis.
Essential Functions
- Work in a safe and efficient manner in compliance with all safety rules and precautions and promotes a safe work environment.
- Review forecast information for accuracy to support departmental staffing and raw material purchasing and departmental budgeting.
- Review with planners any issues with demand on work centers.
- Update and create department scheduling tools as needed.
- Assist in department coverage when absences occur.
- Work on new product introduction on sheet layout, material & quality.
- Assist with cost quoting on potential new business.
- Attend various project calls and meetings and lead ERP planning transition for the facility.
- Research inventory discrepancies.
- Work with T&D on material qualifications.
- Coordinate with outside converting vendors when necessary.
- Serve as backup to buyer for board and other raw material purchases.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Job Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years manufacturing planning experience.
- Prior supervisory/management experience of 2 or more years.
- Understanding of MRP system.
- Possess strong analytical, quantitative, problem solving, technical and communication skills.
- Promotes change and effectively removes obstacles.
- Effectively interacts with all levels of the organization.
- Knowledge of Word, Excel Pivot Tables and BPCS.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
Environment
- The work location is 90% office and 10% warehouse.
- The noise level in the work environment is low.
