Mission SummaryThe Planning Manager is responsible for overseeing both Production Planning and Supply Planning activities. This role ensures that production schedules align with customer demand and that material availability supports uninterrupted manufacturing operations. The Planning Manager plays a key role in the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process and collaborates cross-functionally to optimize supply chain performance.
Key Responsibilities1. Production Planning
Production Demand Analysis
Consolidate and validate the Master Production Schedule (MPS) information received from the Planner
Allocate cell loading upon request (e.g., for Thailand operations).
Participate in new product meetings (e.g. process transfer, new product introduction) and estimate delivery timelines for clients
Analyze demand and provide commitments to Sales based on inquiry validation
Production Scheduling
Generate and maintain a weekly Master Production Schedule (MPS)
Assess opportunities to reuse production leftovers to optimize resources
Review the daily dashboard during the "daily flash" meeting to ensure schedule adherence
Production Performance Monitoring
Analyze weekly Service Level on Request (SLR) metrics to identify gaps and improvement areas.
Lead weekly performance reviews with the Production Planning team
S&OP and Cross-functional Collaboration
Collaborate closely with the Supply Planning team to align production capacity with demand forecasts and inventory targets.
Actively contribute to the monthly Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) cycle by providing production insights and identifying capacity constraints
2. Supply Planning
Supply Forecasting & Inventory Management
Develop and maintain the supply plan in alignment with the MPS and sales forecasts.
Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, components, and semi-finished goods to ensure availability while minimizing excess stock.
Define and adjust replenishment parameters (MOQ, lead times, safety stock) in coordination with Purchasing and Logistics teams.
Procurement Coordination
Place and follow up on purchase orders based on planned requirements.
Monitor supplier performance (OTD, quality, responsiveness) and manage deviations or delays.
Coordinate corrective actions with suppliers in case of shortages or non-conformities.
Analysis & Optimization
Identify supply risks and propose mitigation plans (e.g., dual sourcing, lead time adjustments).
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain (lead time reduction, digital tools).
Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to supply: service level, stock coverage, shortage rate, etc.
Cross-functional Collaboration
Work closely with Production Planning, Customer service, Purchasing, Quality, and Logistics teams to ensure end-to-end synchronization.
Actively participate in the S&OP process by providing visibility on supply constraints and opportunities.
Qualification
5-10 years of experience as Production Planning Manager in an industrial sector
Bachelors in Engineering (Industrial/Mechanical) OR Supply Chain Management
Experience, scheduling, planning, production monitoring, S&OP & MPS (PDP)
Leadership experience and customer focus (SLA, OTD, etc)
Experience with ERP system (QAD) is a plus
Problem solving mindset, attention detail, very good communication skills
Fluent in English and French
