POSITION OVERVIEW 

The Planning Director is responsible for serving as strategic lead on multiple small accounts and strategic support on larger, integrated accounts. You will be responsible for leading smaller new business opportunities, with a high degree of autonomy. Additionally, you are responsible for understanding our clients’ specific markets, competition, and target audience insights, translating those insights into actionable brand strategy. You will be responsible for a team of Planners and Senior Planners. You will ensure the Planning team works in a continuous effort to develop a strategic skill sets to uncover the most compelling insights in which to differentiate a brand in a compelling perspective, constantly pushing to make Famously Effective work.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Lead three or more client relationships (these may be within the same client organization). You work as a consultant with clients to provide them with clear, strategic advice
  • Partner with other agency departments leads to ensure strategic thinking is incorporated in all aspects of the agency’s work
  • Leads the strategic component of new business pitches
  • Serves as lead team member of the brand team on the businesses they are directly responsible for, ultimately assuring the quality of the strategic and creative products the team produces
  • Develop an immersive understanding of your brand’s market dynamics, customer mindset, competitive environment, brand goals, and industry trends to deliver insights that will inspire creative teams and develop a meaning marketing impact for our clients.
  • Own and command client relationships at the most senior levels.
  • Develop strategic deliverables that include, but are not limited to competitive analysis, brand positioning, creative core idea, market research synthesis, creative brief, workshops, and brand plans 
  • Uncover key customer market insights as the basis for strategies and communication, which change perceptions and influence behavior to create a competitive advantage
  • Lead brand and creative strategy development including positioning, targeting, and creative brief that will inspire great creative
  • Craft well written insight strategy presentations for new and existing business with an ability to analyze, reflect, distill and story-tell
  • Develop, direct and evaluate quantitative and qualitative research that answers key questions and provides fodder for insight identification
  • Manage and mentor the team to foster engagement through learning and development, leading to career growth at all levels
  • Contribute to the overall agency culture through exemplary modeling of our core values
  • Collaborate with Medical, CX and Data Strategy to bring a holistic strategic recommendation
  • Work cross-functionally within the agency to ensure the successful and innovative execution of approved strategies
  • Serve as a thought leader and subject matter expert within the agency, with clients, and within the industry at large


WHAT YOU WILL NEED: 

  • Skilled in storytelling and public speaking
  • Experienced in leading new business presentations and workshops
  • 8-10 years of experience in advertising or related industry
  • Experience in oncology, and HCP and DTC experience is a plus

The base salary for this position at the time of this posting may range from $180,000 to $200,000. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience, and qualifications.
