Scope
The Planning and Scheduling Lead III is responsible for project schedule development, control, progress measurement, analysis, and forecasting. This individual will assess contractor- and company-generated schedules for logic, usefulness, level of detail, input sources, timing, communication paths, functional interfaces, and alignment with the Current Control Estimate, Work Breakdown Structure, and overall Project Plan.
The Planning and Scheduling Lead will establish schedule requirements and submission frequencies for contractor deliverables, identify deviations and adverse trends early, and provide project leadership with practical corrective actions and recovery strategies.
Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Provide overall leadership and expertise for project scheduling, progress measurement, forecasting, and schedule-related change management.
  • Steward the contractor’s project controls organization regarding schedule development, control, and progress measurement.
  • Evaluate the adequacy of contractor project controls tools, reports, schedules, and scheduling practices.
  • Develop and maintain Level 1 and Level 2 integrated project schedules.
  • Review and, when appropriate, endorse contractor-prepared schedule and progress baselines and forecasts.
  • Advise the Project Controls Lead and Project Leadership Team of potential schedule issues.
  • Recommend corrective actions and mitigation measures for adverse schedule trends.
  • Develop and review schedule corrective actions and recovery plans and verify that required actions are implemented.
  • Evaluate project changes for detailed schedule impact.
  • Quantify and incorporate approved changes into overall schedule stewardship, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Monitor and report the schedule implications of project changes.
  • Review the schedule basis of contractor change proposals.
  • Review and endorse proposed changes regarding schedule and progress impact.
  • Support ongoing project progress measurement, schedule analysis, reporting, and forecasting.
  • Ensure contractor scheduling practices and progress measurement systems comply with project coordination procedures.
  • Lead contractors in developing contract control schedules and milestones.
  • Ensure subcontractor schedules and progress measurement systems are properly integrated.
  • Monitor contractor performance against the approved baseline schedule.
  • Assist management with identifying schedule issues and developing corrective actions or recovery plans.
  • Analyze schedule performance and progress trends and develop forecasts supporting management decisions.
  • Participate in contract bid evaluations when schedule evaluation is required.
  • Ensure contractor schedules align with external requirements and interfaces, including permitting and regulatory activities.
  • Provide direction and feedback to owner and contractor scheduling engineers regarding schedule development and control expectations.
  • Gather and document project lessons learned relating to scheduling and progress measurement.
  • Maintain close working relationships with the functional organization and other project stakeholders.
  • Promote capital efficiency across assigned projects.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management required.
  • Previous project controls, project services, and/or planning and scheduling experience required.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6 required.
  • Oil and gas industry experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with Advanced Work Packaging strongly preferred.
  • Strong mechanical background preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, analyzing, and maintaining integrated project schedules.
  • Strong understanding of schedule baselines, progress measurement, forecasting, change management, and recovery planning.
  • Strong influencing, consulting, mentoring, analytical, and computing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond quickly to urgent analysis requests.
  • Adaptable to changing project priorities and execution requirements.
  • Willingness to relocate to the project site or work overseas as required.
