Job Summary
Schedule production machinery to meet customer demand and inventory levels, while considering maintenance activity, material and manpower availability and machine capacity.
Essential Functions
- Manage production capacity for Los Angeles facility.
- Work with Production Planning Team to ensure processing of orders occurs in a timely manner.
- Ensure shop orders are assigned to appropriate work centers.
- Personally, visit each work center daily to establish working relationship with plant floor leadership and machine operators.
- Ensure coordination of production planning and machine utilization with Operations and Maintenance teams.
- Interface with Operations and Customer Service personnel to prioritize production plan to maximize customer demand and production efficiencies.
- Develop daily/weekly production plan, considering customer requirements, equipment, and resource availability including shop order Bill of Material.
- Communicate updated schedule status as needed.
- Develop improved production scheduling using sales forecast and planning system.
- Provides daily Operations update.
- Generate and distribute various production reports to support subsequent production activities (Fulton, Los Angeles, Desoto) DRP, or direct customer ship orders.
- Other responsibilities and tasks as appropriate to achieve company goals.
Job Qualifications
Required
- Computer literate: MS Office required.
- Broad knowledge of planning, manufacturing, inventory, and customer focus.
- Knowledge of manufacturing and planning control systems.
- Good problem-solving skills in a team environment or working on your own.
- Strong interpersonal skills: ability to communicate orally and in writing; ability to present information one on one and in group settings, at all levels of the organization, under all circumstances; diplomatic.
- Detail oriented and organized.
- Self-starter; flexible and able to work under pressure, with continuous interruptions.
- Must be able to work on multiple projects at one time without exhibiting undue stress.
Preferred
- High School Diploma required 4-year degree Business Management or related field preferred.
- Knowledge of ERP or MRP manufacturing software required, BPCS preferred.
- Knowledge of pulp and paper industry preferred.
- APICS involvement and certification preferred.
Environment
- Day to day functions will work closely with the Senior Planner.
- Works in partition office with normal office noise levels.
- Daily visits to all machine centers that planner schedules, PPE required: steel toe shoes, hair nets, ear plugs and eye protection.
- 10% to 20% of time daily in the manufacturing environment.
