The Role
Lead production planning and master scheduling for complex semiconductor manufacturing. Develop planning strategies, capacity plans, S&OP, scheduling optimization, WIP and cycle-time improvements, performance analytics, and planning system enhancements. Coordinate cross-functional teams, prioritize demand, and ensure schedule feasibility to balance on-time delivery, inventory, and capacity utilization.
Summary Generated by Built In

Position Summary: The Planner is responsible for coordinating and executing production planning activities that support day-to-day manufacturing operations within the semiconductor facility. This role translates demand forecasts and capacity data into actionable production schedules, monitors work-in-progress flow, and adjusts plans to address material constraints, equipment availability, and shifting priorities. The Planner collaborates closely with manufacturing, engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to balance throughput, cycle time, and on-time delivery targets. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to make sound, data-driven decisions in a fast-paced, technically demanding environment.

Key Responsibilities

Priority Focus Areas:

  • Reduce SAP system delinquency by proactively identifying and resolving overdue orders, open transactions, and data discrepancies within SAP; monitor delinquency reports regularly and drive root-cause corrective actions to keep records current and accurate
  • Manage the End-of-Life (EOL) process for assigned products/materials, including coordinating last-time-buy schedules, phase-out timelines, inventory drawdown, and communication with engineering, sales, and supply chain to ensure smooth product transitions with minimal disruption.
  • Develop and maintain production schedules for assigned manufacturing areas based on demand forecasts, capacity constraints, and inventory targets
  • Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) levels and production flow to identify bottlenecks, delays, or capacity imbalances
  • Adjust schedules in response to equipment downtime, material shortages, engineering holds, or priority changes
  • Coordinate with manufacturing, engineering, quality, and materials teams to resolve scheduling conflicts and align on priorities
  • Track key performance metrics such as cycle time, on-time delivery, output, and utilization; report variances and recommend corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate data within planning and ERP/MES systems, ensuring schedules reflect current production status
  • Support inventory management by coordinating raw material, WIP, and finished goods levels with planning targets
  • Participate in daily/weekly production meetings to communicate schedule status and escalate risks
  • Identify opportunities to improve planning processes, tools, and communication across shifts and teams
  • Support new product introductions, engineering lot planning, and capacity ramp activities as needed

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2–5 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or materials management, preferably in a semiconductor or high-tech manufacturing environment
  • Hands-on experience with SAP order management and EOL/product lifecycle processes strongly preferred

Skills & Competencies

  • Working knowledge of production planning concepts (capacity planning, WIP management, cycle time, lot-based scheduling)
  • Proficiency with ERP/MES systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Promis) and advanced Excel skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
  • Ability to prioritize and adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Basic understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes preferred

Travel Requirements:

  • Moderate travel required (10-15% of time)
  • May include travel between manufacturing facilities and planning centers

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related field
  • Master's degree
  • 2-5 years progressive experience in production planning, master scheduling, or manufacturing operations
  • Experience leading planning functions in complex manufacturing environments
  • Advanced knowledge of planning methodologies, S&OP, and inventory management
  • Experience in semiconductor or high-tech manufacturing environments
  • Professional certification in production planning or supply chain management
  • Expert knowledge of production planning principles, master scheduling techniques, and inventory management
  • Advanced analytical skills with ability to model complex manufacturing scenarios and constraints
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes, equipment capabilities, and operational flows
  • Experience with planning systems, optimization tools, and advanced analytics
  • Excellent project leadership capabilities with experience managing planning initiatives
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication abilities
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, theory of constraints, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Experience with ERP systems and advanced planning solutions
  • Understanding of semiconductor demand patterns and market dynamics
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving focus on manufacturing excellence
