The Production Planner manages production scheduling and capacity planning to ensure the efficient and timely manufacturing of products. Responsible for aligning demand requirements with production capabilities, the role optimizes resource utilization, inventory levels, and service performance. Collaborates closely with manufacturing, procurement, and sales teams, participating to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance planning accuracy, flexibility, and operational efficiency

Main duties

Production Scheduling and Execution

•          Develop and maintain detailed short-term production schedules to ensure optimal sequencing and efficient use of production resources.

•          Manage work orders (raising, scheduling, closing).

•          Align daily and weekly production plans with demand priorities, capacity constraints, and material availability.

•          Monitor schedule adherence and proactively adjust plans in response to changes in demand, disruptions, or operational constraints.

•          Collaborate closely with production, maintenance, and quality teams to ensure smooth execution of the production schedule

•          Identify bottlenecks and support actions to improve line efficiency, throughput, and overall responsiveness

Materials and Inventory Coordination

•          Ensure timely availability of raw materials and components by coordinating closely with suppliers and warehouse teams.

•          Monitor stock levels for critical materials and proactively escalate potential shortages impacting production.

•          Support inventory optimization by balancing production needs with stock levels, minimizing excess and obsolescence.

Planning Support and Continuous Improvement

•          Maintain accuracy of planning data in ERP systems (lead times, production versions, scheduling parameters).

•          Support the Team in improving scheduling processes, tools, and data accuracy.

•          Contribute to the stabilization and standardization of production scheduling routines and best practices.

•          Track and report key scheduling KPIs (e.g., schedule adherence, service level, production efficiency)

Key result areas

The job holder will be responsible for an effective short-term production scheduling according to Central Planning direction and customers requirements; he/she will be in charge of the co-ordination and day-to-day communication of all site scheduling and finished stock control activities; He will engender pro-active relationships within Plant functions at European and sister-site level where applicable

Job requirements

  • University degree (ideally Industrial Engineering or equivalent, but other degrees can be considered based on the profile)
  • 0-3 years of experience in supply chain (preferably gained within the manufacturing sector)
  • Advanced use of MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of ERP logics (experience with Oracle ERP will be a plus)
  • Fluent Italian and English; Other European languages will be a plus.
