General Summary:

The Planned Giving Officer is responsible for leading the planned giving program for HIA Health. In addition to supporting the Philanthropy team to secure major and planned gifts, the Manager of Planned Giving will also be responsible for their own portfolio of donors. The purpose of the position is to engage and manage planned and estate gifts to strategically meet both the immediate and long-term fundraising goals of HIA Health. Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, the Manager of Planned Giving will be an integral team member supporting all of the entities of HIA Health.

Essential Functions:

  • In collaboration with the Director of Philanthropy, designing, implementing, and overseeing a development strategy to achieve significant revenue goals to support the strategic direction of HIA Health
  • Work closely with foundation leadership to implement best practices for a planned giving program.
  • Manage and optimize a major gift portfolio of planned giving prospects of 50 to 60.
    • Responsible for developing relationship strategies for effective donor engagement and stewardship of constituents in donor portfolio
    • Leverages relationships with colleagues, regional and system board members to identify, connect with, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors
  • Monitor, track and report on donor relationship progress goals with organization metrics
  • Expand legacy (planned giving) society participation
  • Recruit, train colleagues in planned giving best practices
  • Maintain a portfolio of major gift level donors
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Certificates and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) required, Master’s in related field preferred.
  • Five (5) years of experience in leading fundraising development programs including major gift development and planned-giving.
  • Ability to present, plan, and update results of fundraising plan to leadership.
  • Work in collaboration with research and service team to develop any necessary data lists, proposals, assets, events, or marketing materials to support Philanthropy plans.
  • Maintains a solid understanding of the main areas of need based on our current strategies.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge/NXT or other donor management applications preferred.
  • Deep understanding of nonprofit fundraising and program implementation.
  • Proven track record of securing large contributions of five- and six-figures from high-net-worth individuals and foundations.

  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs.
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with leadership, donors, and staff.
  • A team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical fundraising and development initiatives.
  • Unimpeachable ethical standards, confidentiality, and personal integrity.
  • This position requires some travel and occasional work on weekends and evenings.
  • Current drivers license and auto insurance.
