General Definition:
- Determine order of finish for all horses in each race. Shall keep file of order of finish for each race card for the Racing Secretary and Racing Commission.
Essential Job Functions:
- Answers phones
- Takes entries in booth
- Registers foal papers & silks
- Inputs foal papers & silks in computer
- Put running numbers on the tote board each race
- Record complete order of finish after each race
- Notify stewards of placings
- Notify mutuels of placings
- Operate tote board
- Operate photo finish system when necessary
- Stop betting when horses break from gate
- Report order to Equibase chart caller
- Fill out and turn in placing slips to appropriate parties
- Call final order around to appropriate parties
- All other duties as assigned by management
Education:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 3 years related experience and/or training; or combination.

- Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to read and communicate verbally in English.
- Written communication skills in English may also be required.
Training:
- 3 year work related experience and/or training; or combination.
Licenses/Certifications/Other:
- Must be able to pass a background check and receive a license or permit from any Regulatory Agency, if applicable to perform the essential job functions
- Texas Racing Commission License (TXRC)

- Minimal exposure in close proximity to horses
Skills Required
- High school diploma or GED
- Three years related experience and/or training
- Knowledge of the Rules of Racing
- Texas Racing Commission License (TXRC) and ability to obtain regulatory permits
- Ability to pass a background check
- Ability to operate tote board and photo finish system
- Experience using a computer to input race and registration data (Equibase familiarity)
- Excellent customer service and verbal/written communication skills in English
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, crowded/noisy environment and maintain professional appearance
- Ability to lift up to or over 20 lbs (occasionally over 50 lbs) and perform physical movements (stoop, bend, reach)
