About You

As a Pipeline TD, you will help us support ongoing shows and build Embassy’s global production pipeline. You will be exposed to all areas of production and will be working very closely with the artists, troubleshooting issues or developing custom tools to improve their workflow. This role supports 3D, Compositing, Editorial, and Production tools. You may perform a diverse series of technical support and engineering functions in order to ensure the smooth running of our film visual effects projects. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, self-sufficient, and thrives in a collaborative environment. You will have the chance to work on high-end episodic and feature film productions.

Your Role

• Develop, maintain, and optimize pipeline tools and workflows while ensuring studio-wide consistency
• Provide direct production assistance across multiple departments and disciplines, troubleshooting and resolving any issues that arise within the pipeline
• Work on technical projects to improve and refine production standards
• Test and fine-tune tools and techniques, collaborate on testing and releasing new software systems
• Ensure pipeline tools and scripts are well-documented, adhere to best coding practices, and support artist training initiatives
• Stay up-to-date on relevant technologies and industry trends to enhance pipeline efficiency  
  

Your Qualifications

• 2 to 3 + years of experience in a VFX/animation pipeline role or related role
• Knowledge of Python 2.x/3.x and some C++
• Thorough knowledge of computer graphics and animation concepts, and all the roles involved in the production pipeline
• Knowledge of industry DCC software and their APIs (Houdini, Maya, Nuke, etc.) and standard scene data interchange formats (USD, Alembic)
• Experience building UIs using Qt, PyQt or PySide
• Experience with revision control systems such as Git
• An understanding of Linux, OS X, user environments, and bash shell scripting
• Experience with open-source libraries and their APIs (OpenColorIO, OpenImageIO, OpenTimelineIO, etc.) is preferred.
• Experience with relational databases (MySQL, Postgres) is preferred
• Consistently produce high-quality work in deadline-oriented environments
• A constant drive to learn and improve the pipeline
• Experience with render managers and distributive computing environments
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
