Responsible for planning, conducting, and documenting Tier 1 and Tier 2 reviews of core pipeline safety programs to evaluate compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and operational procedures. Identifies risks, control gaps, and opportunities for improvement, and works collaboratively with business partners to develop corrective actions and strengthen program effectiveness. Analyzes data, reviews records and processes, prepares audit reports, and communicates findings and recommendations to management. Supports continuous improvement initiatives that promote regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and the safe, reliable operation of pipeline assets.

Responsibilities Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Analyze and evaluate the compliance programs (including control room management, operator qualifications program, drug and alcohol program, integrity management plans, damage prevention, public awareness and emergency response), procedures and processes.
  • Executes fieldwork steps on assigned audits.
  • Identify gaps and work with program owners/operations to draft corrective actions.
  • Write audit reports with detailed finding & recommendations.
  • Provide information and assistance with responses to state and Federal regulatory agency pipeline inquiries and notices.
  • Research and interpret pipeline safety rules established by state and federal regulations pertaining to the Department of Transportation (DOT). Review operational procedures and practices in assessing their compliance with state, federal, and company requirements.
  • Interviews employees throughout the Company to identify and document risks and related identified controls.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.
  • Employee may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education Requirements 

Bachelor's degree in engineering, technology, physical science or related field is required. 

Experience 

  • In addition to education, this role typically calls for two to four years of relevant professional experience; (Minimum of one-year relevant experience is required).
  • Working knowledge in audit, compliance, operations and/or regulatory environments.
  • Previous experience and/or training including but not limited to interpersonal/communication skills, transmission/distribution pipeline operations, internal controls and internal audit techniques, report writing and the energy industry.
  • Working knowledge with pipeline safety inspection and/or developing and executing audit programs, including researching, analyzing and preparing audit documentation.
  • Limited experience in managing projects.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional groups on long-term projects or programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret audit results, governmental regulations, policies and procedures, publications, manuals, contracts and correspondence.
  • Knowledge in developing and presenting information to individuals and groups.
  • Experience in use and function of office equipment including computers and applicable software.
  • Working knowledge of oil and gas industry terminology.
  • An understanding of how to identify, research, evaluate and prioritize problems or specific situations and coordinating appropriate action/response.
  • Experience interacting, advising and communicating effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.
     

Licenses and Certifications 

Required applicable driver’s license. Requires travel to other company offices and facilities and to job sites.

Additional Requirements 

  • Mobility to travel in and around office facilities and around job sites.
  • Able to communicate and exchange information; conduct oral presentations.
  • Visual ability sufficient to perform job duties.
