This is a non-union positionAre you an experienced Pipeline Engineering Specialist who is driven to provide technical expertise, support, and mentorship to improve the safe and reliable design, construction, and operation of natural gas pipeline facilities? If so, this opportunity is for you! In this role you will lead all aspects of the design for pipelines, for expansion and maintenance capital projects to ensure compliance with Company standards and specifications and industry standards and managed to the project budget and schedule.
What You Will Do:
Lead internal and external multidisciplinary engineering teams on complex midstream pipeline projects involving multiple stakeholders and consultants.
Represent Pipeline Engineering in multi‑year regulatory applications, presenting technical details and facts to regulators for complex projects.
Manage high‑value engineering and procurement contracts (>$10M), including spend tracking and change orders, and report to project leadership and senior management.
Oversee design reviews and approvals with external engineering firms and internal stakeholders (e.g., System Design, Operations, Construction, Environment), ensuring compliance with all regulations, industry codes, and corporate standards.
Lead material procurement, testing, logistics, construction RFIs, commissioning support, and maintain key project records including design basis, assumptions, and engineering decision documentation.
Who You Are:
Bachelor's degree in engineering; focus on Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical preferred.
Registered member with APEGA as P. Eng. in the Province of Alberta.
Sevin (7) or more years of related experience in the oil and gas pipeline industry
In depth, detailed knowledge of applicable codes such as CSA Z662, DOT CFR 192, DOT CFR 195, ASME B31, NACE, etc.
Familiarity and knowledge of materials standards & specifications (CSA, ASME, API, etc.).Trenchless design and feasibility analysis. Pipeline stress analysis and software, CEPA surface loading calculation, etc. Experience on pipeline routing selections and design; working with geotechnical and hydro-technical hazards.
Project Management designation is an asset.
Experience working with pipeline tunnel/micro-tunnel design is a plus.
Role requires a valid driver’s license, which will be verified with a motor vehicle check prior to hire.
Working Conditions:
Office environment (80-90%) working with multiple project teams.
In field work (10-20%) scoping projects or supporting construction and commissioning activities as required. Ability to travel and work on projects throughout Canada and United States. Valid passport is required.
