Responsibilities:
- Evaluate, treat and manage adult and pediatric patients in an inpatient hospital setting.
- Provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment plans in accordance with statutes, regulations and protocols.
- Provide phone consultation to pediatric-trained attendings for management of the adult patients on the census.
- Receive guidance from pediatricians when covering pediatric patients on the census.
- Collaborate with nurses, APPs, ancillary staff, respiratory therapists, social worker, case manager and those positions on the clinical team.
- Work with families/loved ones to provide health services, education, counseling and emotional support.
- Issue and manage medication prescriptions in accordance with treatment guidelines. Order laboratory tests, interpret and explain test results.
- Provide education regarding medications, risks, benefits and reasonable outcome expectations.
- Communicate with residents and engage in follow-up as necessary.
- Supervise clinical providers (APPs, Nurses) and provide performance feedback in all aspects of clinical functions.
- Continually review current standards of care and work with leadership team to implement new processes as needed.
Qualifications:
- Must have an active medical license in the state of New York (or the ability to obtain one)
- 1-2 years general adult hospitalist experience preferred
- Will consider new residency graduates!
Education:
- Graduation from an accredited medical school
- Completion of a US residency program in internal medicine or med-peds
- Board Certified or Board Eligible
$250,000 - $275,000 per year
