Job Responsibilities
- Perform preoperative assessments and support patient optimization.
- Participate in postoperative management, follow-up, and care coordination.
- Assist with consultative support and continuity of care planning.
- Provide patient and family education related to procedures and recovery.
- Order, review, and interpret diagnostic tests, treatments, and medications within scope.
Support operating room throughput and patient flow optimization.
Assist with urgent and emergent add-on coordination.
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, nursing, PAT, sterile processing, and scheduling teams to remove barriers to efficient case progression.
Assist in day-of-surgery issue escalation and operational problem solving.
Perform first assist duties consistent with privileges and regulatory requirements.
Provide intraoperative assistance, tissue handling, retraction, suturing, wound closure, and related support.
Assist with development and standardization of clinical pathways and perioperative protocol
Complete timely, accurate clinical documentation in the electronic health record.
Education Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
Experience Requirements
- Surgical services or perioperative experience preferred.
- First assist experience preferred.
- Experience supporting operative services operations, throughput, or quality initiatives preferred.
License/Certification Requirements
- Current Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C) credential
- Controlled Substances Registration license in the state of Indiana
- Basic Life Safety (American Heart Association)
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
