Job Responsibilities:
- As the PHY System Director, you will provide strategic and technical leadership across the PHY System domain:
- Manage and mentor a team of PHY System Managers, providing strategic direction, coaching, and performance management.
- Oversee the talent acquisition, retention, and professional development of the entire PHY System organization.
- Allocate resources and define priorities across multiple product lines and projects.
- Define the strategic technical roadmap for the PHY System architecture within our O-RAN portfolio (e.g., O-DU/O-RU splits).
- Drive the definition and standardization of internal PHY interfaces and overall system architecture, ensuring optimal performance, power, and cost efficiency.
- Act as the executive focal point for all PHY, RF (Radio Frequency), and Baseband system-level aspects, representing the organization to executive leadership and key external partners.
- Ensure compliance and interoperability with O-RAN specifications and the broader ecosystem
- Oversee the defining, writing, and managing of high-level system requirements derived from 3GPP standards (e.g., 5G-NR, LTE, NB-IOT) and customer specifications.
- Direct the PHY System Managers in leading development activities from feature definition through development, system integration, and field deployment.
- Ensure robust technical collaboration with all cross-functional teams, including SW, FPGA, RF, Algorithms, Validation, and Product Management.
Job Requirements:
- A minimum of 10+ years of experience in the design and deployment of advanced wireless communication systems (4G/5G-NR).
- A minimum of 5+ years of experience managing and leading technical teams. Previous experience in managing managers or leading large system group – advantage.
- Deep, hands-on understanding of PHY layer functionality (e.g., coding, modulation, channel estimation, scheduling) and its interaction with the RF chains.
- Proven experience in system-level definition, requirements engineering, and architecture design for base station or small cell products.
- Demonstrated ability to drive strategic technical decisions in a complex, fast-paced environment.
- B.Sc/M.Sc in Electrical/Computer/Communication Engineering or a related field.
