The Product Owner is responsible to execute the product strategy and translate it into developed final products.

Working closely with the Product Manager and the development team, you will manage and prioritize the product backlog, making sure the team executes according to the product management team’s strategic goals and priorities.

This role will translate the product manager strategy into tasks for development, by taking their initiatives, breaking them down into stories and actionable chunks of value and working with the engineering team to implement them. The Product Owner will work very closely with the development team, be accessible to answer questions and serve as a liaison between product and development. Also, this role will continuously learn about the market and customers’ needs to be more effective in the execution of the product strategic plan.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Turning the product vision into an actionable backlog
  • Advocating the customers’ needs in front of the development team
  • Updating and communicating the product backlog
  • Reviewing and contributing to the program vision, roadmap, and content presentations.
  • Creating and elaborating epics and user stories for new product features and enhancements
  • Defining acceptance criteria for user story completion
  • Collaborating with Solution Architects/Engineering to assist with decision-making and sequencing of the critical technological infrastructures that will host the new business functionality.
  • Supervising and advising the scrum team to meet software expectations
  • Working closely with the scrum team throughout the development process
  • Working closely with the product development team to create a strong final product
  • Nurturing ideas and solutions to identified client’s problems

Objectives: 

  • Prioritized Product Backlogs in Place
  • Defined and documented User Stories and Product Design Specification
  • Customer Satisfaction with Products

Previous Experience/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and or equivalent professional experience across the relevant domain area
  • Knowledge of Tissue, Stem and Cord Blood Banking, Cell and Gene Therapies, Blood Banking or Blood Transfusion in hospitals is desirable
  • Ability to make recommendations to resolve conflicts
  • Excellent teamworking skills
  • Experience in gathering, communicating, and organising information/requirements
  • Technical background with experience in product management or specialist business analysis
  • Good understanding of software development processes
  • Good analytical skills
  • High quality written and spoken English
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of Scrum and Agile Software Development Methodology
  • Have working knowledge of product development architecture
  • Can prioritize effectively
  • Have good knowledge of user-centered design principles
  • Can gather requirements from multiple sources and compile into a clear, concise, useable recommendations and decisions
  • Can create practical and actionable prioritized pathway to delivering product development
  • Decisive but pragmatic
  • Have good communication skills
  • Can build strong relationships internally and externally
  • Are self-motivated and like a challenge
  • Can act as a leader - setting the direction, making decisions, and finding solutions to issues

Nice to have, but not essential:

  • Knowledge of MAK-System software products, or similar blood management software
  • Experience in a job relating to the relevant domain product area (Tissue, Stem and Cord Blood Banking, Cell and Gene Therapies, Blood Banking or Blood Transfusion in hospitals)
  • Experience in Product Management
  • Experience in software development
  • Experience in software testing and release processes
  • Experience in regulated environments and development of validated information systems
