This joint venture will combine Prudential's global expertise in insurance and financial services with HCL Group’s experience in technology and healthcare solutions.

To partner with us in this mission, we are looking for a talented Lead, Operational Risk Manager to join our team in Mumbai.

Job Description – Lead, Operational Risk Management (Senior Manager)

Reports To: Chief Risk Officer (CRO)
Location: Airoli, Thane

Role Overview

The Lead – Operational Risk Management is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the operational risk management framework across the organization. The role ensures that operational risks are effectively identified, assessed, mitigated, and monitored in line with regulatory expectations and the company’s risk appetite. The incumbent will drive a proactive risk culture, strengthen internal controls, and enhance organizational resilience—particularly across policy administration, claims, technology, and distribution functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF) aligned with Group guidelines and the company’s enterprise risk management policy.

  • Identify, assess, and monitor operational risks across all business units and support functions, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.

  • Design and execute Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) programs to evaluate control effectiveness and identify high-risk areas.

  • Implement incident and operational loss reporting mechanisms, perform root cause analysis, and track corrective and preventive actions.

  • Develop and monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and operational dashboards for timely risk escalation and management reporting.

  • Partner with business, IT, and distribution teams to embed risk ownership and ensure process-level control effectiveness.

  • Conduct independent operational risk reviews and thematic deep dives into key business processes and third-party relationships.

  • Establish and maintain a robust Business Continuity and Operational Resilience Framework to manage disruptions effectively.

  • Drive organization-wide operational risk awareness and training programs to foster a risk-aware culture.

  • Leverage automation and technology tools for risk data analytics, control testing, and centralized issue tracking.

  • Lead quarterly Operational Risk Committee meetings, presenting risk exposures, trends, and mitigation status to senior leadership.

Skills and Qualifications

  • CA/MBA - Finance

  • Professional certifications preferred (e.g., FRM, ORM, or equivalent).

  • 8–12 years of relevant experience in operational risk management, preferably within insurance or financial services.

  • Proficiency in data analytics, risk reporting tools, and process mapping methodologies.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
