The Pharmacy Assistant supports the daily operations of the community pharmacy by assisting with customer service, medication preparation, stock management, and maintaining a clean and organized pharmacy environment. The role requires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and previous experience working in a community pharmacy.
- Welcome and attend to customers in a professional and courteous manner.
- Assist in processing prescriptions under the supervision of the pharmacist.
- Prepare and package medications for dispensing.
- Receive, arrange, and replenish stock on shelves.
- Monitor stock levels and report low stock or expired products.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked pharmacy environment.
- Process sales transactions and issue receipts where required.
- Respond to customer enquiries and refer clinical questions to the pharmacist.
- Ensure compliance with pharmacy policies and standard operating procedures.
- Support the pharmacist with day-to-day administrative and operational tasks.
Requirements
- Minimum of OND, or equivalent qualification.
- At least 1 year of prior experience working in a community pharmacy is required.
- Good understanding of community pharmacy operations and over-the-counter (OTC) products.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer literacy and experience using a Point of Sale (POS) system is an added advantage.
- Professional appearance, integrity, and a positive attitude.
