A pharmacist is required to comply with state and federal laws regulated by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy, Drug Enforcement Agency, and Food and Drug Administration. In doing so, a pharmacist must maintain records for controlled substances, remove outdated or damaged drugs from inventory, supervise the work results of support personnel, maintain a current registration, and stay up to date with current standard practices and laws.
SHIFT AND SCHEDULE
Full Time: Day Shift; every other weekend
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
- Provides pharmacological information by answering requests of healthcare professionals and by monitoring drug therapy and advising on interventions
- Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians’ workflow; verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals; verifying order entries, charges, and inspections
- Ensures accuracy of entered orders and timely delivery of medications to the respective recipient
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with established hospital policies and procedures
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree required
- Current State of Texas License as a Registered Pharmacist
- Certification in area of specialty (e.g., CACP, CNSC, BCNSP, BCOP, BCPS) preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

- Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear. Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and to 50 lbs. for non-clinical staff. The individual must use an assisted-lift device or get another individual(s) to assist with the lift that is over these maximum limits.
