The Pharmacist Supervisor oversees the orientation and training of pharmacy staff, ensuring that team members remain competent and compliant with relevant standards and regulations. The supervisor is tasked with evaluating workflow processes, addressing and resolving operational challenges as they arise, and supporting efficient departmental operations—all with the goal of delivering consistent, high-quality pharmaceutical care.
This position involves direct supervision of staff pharmacists, technicians, and interns. The Pharmacist Supervisor is responsible for coaching team members, providing ongoing feedback, and conducting performance evaluations. Additional duties include managing training and development initiatives for direct reports. The supervisor may also make recommendations concerning personnel actions such as hiring, termination, promotion, disciplinary measures, leaves of absence, work scheduling, and performance reviews, all in accordance with established hospital policies.
Beyond supervisory functions, the Pharmacist Supervisor is expected to fulfill all responsibilities associated with the role of a clinical generalist pharmacist. Clinical generalist pharmacists deliver comprehensive pharmaceutical care by integrating drug distribution and clinical services. All activities are performed in compliance with State Board of Pharmacy regulations and other applicable regulatory agencies, including the maintenance of an active pharmacist license in good standing.
