Our clerkship program
For a head start in your legal career, apply for a clerkship in our Perth office. You’ll work alongside some of the most experienced lawyers in Australia and gain first-hand insight into the type of work you could do as a lawyer at Allens.

You’ll get to be part of a team, contributing to real matters and be supported by a partner, senior lawyer and a junior lawyer, who will ensure you get the most out of your clerkship, get to know our people, and thrive.

We believe we stand out as an employer because of our high-quality technical training, strong learning culture and focus on building capability that makes a real impact for our clients. We’ll work with you to develop your understanding of commercial law and build the skills you need to thrive as a lawyer, while being involved in some of the market's most complex domestic and global transactions.

We offer clerkship programs across three periods—two over summer and one over winter—to coincide with university holidays. During your clerkship, you’ll work in one practice group for three weeks, giving you a consistent experience and invaluable insight into our work and the clients we support:

  • Summer 1: 16 November - 4 December 2026
  • Summer 2: 18 January - 5 February 2027
  • Winter: 14 June - 2 July 2027

Our clerkship program is a stepping stone to bigger things—for many, it’s the first step toward building a long term career with us. Many clerks go on to become graduates at Allens. Here’s what you can look forward to:

  • a personalised induction program that introduces you to our people and the work we do;
  • on-the-job training with support from a partner, senior lawyer and a junior lawyer, who will act as your performance coach, development lawyer and buddy—providing guidance, feedback and coaching as you learn;
